First Story

„I love you “„Promise? “ „Promise. “

I looked deep into his eyes, silently pleading him to do something, but he just stood there staring at me with his hand wrapped around me. He had a little sad smile on his gorgeous face. After standing there for what felt like just seconds, but probably was at least over 10 minutes, he finally opened his mouth to say something, but I cut him off right away. „Don’t say anything, I know it’s hard for both of us.“

„Honey, I can’t live without you.“ He finally spoke. A tear was already starting to run down my cheek. „Baby don’t cry, everything will be alright. We can live our lives together soon. Just a few more years to wait.“

And that was it for me, I was full on crying. He tightened his arms around me and tried to calm me down. It’s just too hard to handle. Now that I’m finally with him, in his arms after many months of waiting, I have to leave again.

When I was finally calmed down he let go of me, unfortunately. He took something from his back pocket, it was a small black box. How did I not notice that? He took my right hand in his and looked deep into my eyes.

„I have wanted to give you this for awhile, and now seems to be the perfect time for that… I don’t want to start rambling again but, hey, that’s just my thing I guess.“ He stopped talking for a moment, just looking at me and smiling, a happy genuine smile.

„You mean everything to me, you’re the one Person I know I want to spend my whole life with, even though it sounds super cheesy, I love you beyond words, you’re my whole world. And I know it’s too early for me to ask you to marry me, so I got this promise ring, because I promise you with my whole heart that I’ll stay with you forever, and I’ll wait for you as long as I have to. I want to ask you this question, will you take this promise ring as a symbol of my undying love for you?“

I could hear my heart beating in my chest like crazy. All I could focus on was my amazing boyfriend before me. He is my whole world, and I love him to pieces. Tears started to run down my cheeks again, but this time they weren’t because of sadness. I couldn’t get any sound out of me, so I just wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him with so much passion.

After the kiss we both had the sweetest smiles on our faces. „So is that a yes?“ he asked with a little chuckle. I kissed him once more, this time just for a second or two though. „Of course. I love you so very much.“ His smile got even bigger, if that’s even possible. „I love you just as much gorgeous.“

He took my left hand and put the ring on my ring finger, as he was still holding my hand, he kissed the top of it. And then hugged me tight.

„I don’t want to leave tomorrow. Or ever at all to be fair.“ I said as I rested my head on his chest.

„I know dear. It’s for only a few months, right?“ he tried to cheer up the mood, but the fact that I have to leave for so many months was still there. The few weeks we spent together weren’t long enough, it was just like yesterday when I came here, but I have to leave tomorrow already. Of course I wanted to go back and see my family and friends, but I just wanted to be with him forever.

But nothing in life comes easily, and we will make this all work, even if sometimes it feels that it’s easier to just give up.

„I love you“ he said and kissed the top of my head.

„Promise?“ it was a dumb question, but I felt like I need to ask that.

„Promise. From the bottom of my heart.“

We’ll definitely make it work.
