areum leaned back against the wall with a sigh, setting down her mop bucket and inhaling the fresh lemon scent. she had just finished cleaning the master bathroom, which consisted of twin sinks and a large counter top, along with not only a shower but also a large bathtub.
she decided she would explore the rest of the house a bit, to familiarize herself with her surroundings, before her shift ended in two hours. she put away the cleaning supplies and walked into the master bedroom, admiring the red satin sheets and the large flat screen tv.
she noticed the faint smell of vanilla that outlined nearly every piece of furniture in the room, and felt memories rushing back to her because of it. she quickly wiped the thoughts away as her phone began to vibrate in her uniform's pocket.
"hello?" she asked, not remembering the caller id.
"ah, areum. it's soojung. i'm busy with work tonight, so i won't be there until very late. my fiancée should be there any moment now, though." the young maid nodded into the phone.
"sure, thanks."
"no problem. and since you're presumably doing a good job, he'll be treating you to a nice dinner at a restaurant across town. i may or may not join you depending on how long work is tonight."
"okay. thanks so much, ma'am." areum heard the older girl faintly chuckle on the other end.
"oh, please. i'm only two years older then you, call me soojung." after a few laughs and exchanged goodbyes, the call ended. just as the door creaked open from downstairs.
areum jogged down the steps and reached near the bottom, slowing down as she heard loud footsteps on the hardwood floors. she watched as the unknown male figure placed his black blazer on the coat rack.
she stepped down once more before her eyes widened at the man in front of her.
"jimin?"
