Teagan nodded with satisfaction at her drawing.
She had drawn herself next to a beautiful Deadly Nadder, who she labeled as Flyheart. She loved How To Train Your Dragon, and anything to do with it. She had hundreds of drawings, mainly of dragons, but there were some characters too, like Hiccup, Astrid, Valka, and all the teens.
Teagan had always wished that she could have her own dragon. She would be happy with any dragon she could find, but her favorite was the Night Fury, seriously, who couldn't love Toothless?
But she also loved Deadly Nadders, which were considered one of the most beautiful dragon breeds. Yet at the same time, they were also deadly, as their name suggests. She loved how the horns on their head moved up and down to show when they were alert or relaxed, she loved their bird-like mannerisms, and she loved pretty much everything else about them too.
Teagan was pulled out of her daydream when her smartphone rang (the How To Train Your Dragon theme song, of course). She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at the screen. Seeing the picture of a girl with long, silky black hair piled up on top of her head, Teagan put the phone up to her ear, "Hey Drew."
"Hey!" Drew answered, "I'm bored. Want to meet up somewhere? You aren't doing anything, are you?"
"Not really, do you want to come over"
"Hang on, I'll ask. Hey Mom?!" Drew suddenly shouted. Loudly. Teagan pulled the phone away from her ear and blinked, glancing at the phone before tentatively moving it closer to her ear. "Can I go over to Teagan's?!" She could hear a muffled voice answering. "Thanks Mom! Okay, she said yes."
"Great, but next time, do you think you can actually go to her?"
"Why?"
"'Cause you nearly burst my eardrum, that's why!" she laughed.
"Really? Was I yelling?" Drew asked sarcastically.
"Ha-ha, very funny," Teagan replied, "Just come over."
"Okay, see you in about ten minutes."
"Ten? You literally live three houses down."
"Yeah, but I've got to get dressed. Plus my mom'll probably ask me to do a last minute chore like take the trash out or something."
"Ah, so you're just accounting for being late."
"Yeah, pretty much."
"Okay, well bye, see you in a bit." She brought the phone down and hung up.
"Oh," she said as a sudden thought hit her, "I better go tell Mom she's coming over," Teagan thought aloud. She stood up and walked out of her room to the landing and leaned over the railing. "Hey Mom?" she called down.
"Yes honey?" A voice called back from somewhere downstairs.
"Drew's coming over soon, is that okay?" Teagan crossed her fingers.
"Did you clean your room?"
"Yes!"
"Then sure!"
Teagan pumped her fist with a whispered exclamation of triumph before skipping back into her room.
She shut the door as Riley, her German Shepard, pushed through.
"Hey girl," Teagan said affectionately as she plopped down on her bed with her sketchbook, "come on up." She patted the bed next to her. Riley jumped up immediately and curled up next to her. Teagan gave Riley a scratch behind the ear before picking up her pencil and opening her book. She stared off into space, tapping her pencil eraser against her chin.
