Phoenix POV

I focus on the straw decoys circling me. I counted there was a total of 10 all with a red target on their makeshift head. I looked up at the sun. It was shining brightly on the training field. I stood in my combat stance. I focus all of my energy to my palms my eyes and hair turning bright red like lava.

Feeling all my powers gather at my fingertips I release all my energy at once. Flame Dragon, I murmured.

An enormous dragon made of bright red flames release from my palms. The dragon screeched out a menacing roar. Its bright yellow eyes gleaming ready to destroy whatever in its path.

I control the dragon manipulating the fierce beast to the right of me, aiming it at my first target. I managed to hit the first target. I smiled as I circled the dragon to the next target. I was able to control and spin the dragon effortlessly as I took down the next four targets easily. My forehead began to sweat, and my hands started to quiver under the intense pressure of manipulating the dragon. My hands starting hurting. I manage to take out the sixth, seventh, and eight decoys.

Come on two more, I thought.

The dragon was starting to vanish once I reached the ninth decoy.

The immense pressure had my hand shaking uncontrollably at this point. I circled the dragon to the final decoy but before it could reach the dragon vanished.

Fuck I murmured I stooped down to the ground.

My aunt Seraphina came from behind me. I could feel her menacing glare on my back as the hairs stood up on my neck.

"Phoenix this is a simple task. I was able to master the Flame dragon by the time I turned sixteen, "Seraphina stated.

"Auntie I'm trying, I replied keeping my eyes to the ground.

"Bullshit," she spat. "You couldn't even keep the dragon ablaze."

"How are you supposed to be my successor, when you can't even manage to learn the damn basics. Training over with today.

"GUARDS," my aunt yelled. The two guards that was standing beside the training field watching ran over immediately.

"Yes, your Highness," they said in unison as they bowed their heads.

"Clean this shit up, my aunt stated storming off to the direction of the castle.

The tears burned my eyes, but I refused to cry. I got up off my knees and turned around to go inside the castle.

My Papa (Liam) and younger brother was standing at the back door waiting for me. He pulled me into a hug as soon as I entered the castle. "You did good, I seen the improvement," he said softly.

"You were awesome Nixie," my young brother (Levi) exclaimed while hugging my legs.

My Papa Liam is the best father a girl could ask for. He's supportive and loving. My Papa stood at 6'4 with tan skinned, and brown hair. He had a smile that can light up the whole room. His grey eyes always had a faint flicker of light in them. A trait he passed on to all three of his kids. My older and younger brothers are splitting images of our Papa.

I buried my head into my papa's chest. All I wanted to do was cry because I'm working extremely hard. My aunt berated me constantly. It seems like everything I do wasn't enough

I trained day in and day out over a year now and she still hasn't acknowledged the fact that I came along way in using my abilities.
