The tension around the area suffocates me, the perfectly sculpted statue remaining perfectly poised in all his power over the pack. His dark eyes move back and forth from me hunched on the floor to the people and wolves bowing around him. Every glance sends a shiver down my bent spine. I have to remind myself that I do not need to bow, he's not my Alpha. However, the tone of his voice makes me dip my head ever so slightly.
"What happened." The simple phrase seems like it should be a question but his tone is harsh, the words sounding sharp as he moves his lips to pronounce every letter correctly. I look up to see that he's glaring at the rogues, obviously expecting an answer as he clenches his jaw making it look even more defined.
Catching me by suprise, one of the rogues grabs my arm, hoisting me up off of the ground as the other stares at me, trying to figure out my tactics. I don't fight against him, nor do I struggle. I have little effort to do so, my body aching from the events that have previously happened and my throat burning from the lack of water.
Alpha Alexander takes a long step towards us, making me more nervous than before. If he's going to kill me he may as well do it now. He's got every chance to yet... He doesn't?
"What happened!" He roars, many rogues around us jump and quiver with fright. My head quickly snaps away from the gaze of the Alpha so that I am looking at the distant shrubs, almost like a slap to the face as his breathing becomes heavy, his stance more rigid. Alexander closes the space between us, taking my chin into his gloved hand as he exams my face. His warm breath fans my face as his eyes make the back if my neck heat up. No. Stop it. He's a rogue. An Alpha at that. I close my eyes and hope for the best, even though I know what the outcome of this will be. I brace myself, expecting him to snap my neck but he once again surprises me as he drags a finger down my cheek. "Is that fresh blood?" He growls.
"She tried to escape, Alpha. River stopped her, but she still felt the need to kill one of our men. She's insane!" The rogue who was staring at me declares, his mouth twists upwards into a snarl. Small whispers began around us, some I can hear, others not so much.
"She should be locked away."
"Put her in the asylum."
"I don't want a dangerous, rabid creature near my child!"
'It's ironic, huh. Talking about us being "rabid" and "wild" when they're the ones who are rogues!" Skylar pauses for a moment, calming her breathing before things get out of hand again. 'Will someone shut that woman's screeching up?! She sounds like a fucking banshee! Talking about us as if we were some kind of monster, ha.'
"Who's blood is this... Hm? Who's is it?" The Alphas voice grows louder as he growls at the rogues who is grasping my arm, demanding a name. "Who did she kill!"
The rogue who has my arm in a tight hold looks to the one on the right side of me. They both share a glance and decide it's best to refuse to say who it was. My legs grow weaker the longer we stand, causing one to buckle underneath me, forcing me backwards and away from the Alpha. River pushes the rogues arm away from me, putting a hand around my waist in order to keep me up. I try to push him away as I don't need his help, he's a rogue, he is one of the rogues that destroyed my pack. He's a monster, just like the rest of them.
"Vincent. It was Vincent," River finally sighs. I glance up, beneath my eyelashes to see the Alpha's reaction only to find him staring at me, a fire burning deep within his eyes. A fire of rage and animosity.
"Shit!" He yells, his head falling back and eyes close, clearly distressed at the information. I look up at the sky, noticing grey, almost black, clouds rolling in slowly. A storm is brewing within them, ready to unleash it's anger out on me. This is my karma... "Fuck!" Alexander repeats, one hand moves towards the pocket of his jogging bottoms, the other pushes his hair back. His head slowly returns back to its upright position as his eyes narrow at me.
