This took me so long to post! I guess that's what happens when you're high school is basically college. But it isn't like anybody is following this story and cares about update frequency... Hopefully someday. Preferably soon. Anyways, onto the story.

"Are you ready?" I asked Katherine as she put her new backpack on. We had spent the end of yesterday resting and discussing what the plan would be. She had tried to talk me out of helping her but when she did I told her, "You would have died more than once if it wasn't for me. You owe me, and you know it, so don't try to argue with me." She continued to try to dissuade me but she ultimately stopped after hours of trying without me budging. In truth, I wasn't looking forward to the long, strenuous, and dangerous journey ahead, but I felt like I couldn't just let her go by herself.

"I'm sixteen, by the way," Katherine said as we packed. She looked at me, and seeing my confused expression, she elaborated, "You asked me earlier but I was so caught up in losing my supplies I didn't answer. And I'm more experienced than you might think. I spent most of my time practicing my fighting skills and shift control. I rival most of the strongest warriors in my sluthe." As she said this she had a pleased, and slightly haughty, expression.

"I hope I don't need to find out first-hand." I say as I shake my head. 'She sure sounds like she is confident in her abilities. I just hope she doesn't get cocky.'

"Yeah, I think so. I have everything I'm sure I'll need. But are you sure you've got everything?" She smirked as she asked because I had a full backpack, two satchel bags that were packed-to-the-seams, and an overcoat loaded down with as much equipment as it would carry. And that's not even including my normal armor and weapons I was wearing. With all things considered, it's a good thing I have enhanced strength, or else I would be restrained to the point of immobility.

I turned back and told her, "One should always be prepared for everything. You never know when you'll need something you normally don't.  Now, are we going to talk all day? Or are we going?"

"Well I'm ready, so let's go."

Not only did this take a long time to post, but I didn't know what to write. Very unfortunate. I wish it wasn't so hard to write. Funny coming from an author, right? I am not looking forward to English class if this is how hard writing for fun is... Guess I'll try to write the next chapter. Wish me luck, and remember to vote and comment. I might even be more motivated if people show an interest. *Cough* guilt trip *cough*.
