He was a happy baybe. Born to a loving father....... and a mother that busyed herself with managing her shop. He was a happy child as well. He learned from his father the spells of druids. His mother was not happy with this. She wanted him to become a hunter for her shop, so she could have pelts for much cheaper.... and sell them for more. She did not want him making friends with these animals.
Kyden Hearthsfire is his name. His is a half-elf. His father was a human and his mother an elf. The elven society looked down on him and his father but allowed them to stay within the city. The lower city. Where most of the trading and begging went on. Where thieves where hiding in dark alyways. The guards watched to make sure the rich stayed rich.
It wasn't bad though, not for kyden. His mother visited often enough and brought small treats with her. He never really bonded with her though disspite this. She only came once or twice a week. The rest of the time she was busy with work, either at her shop or doing paperwork at her home in the middle city. It was his father that he bonded with, who took him on his expeditions in Tom the nearby forests. He showed kyden how to use his spell he had learned. He wasn't very good at first, but his father encouraged him on. Eventually be befriended a wolf cub. A special cub his father said. Kyden didn't know what that mention until much later.
His father was murdered one day when he was out researching local bird life. He was killed by a group of elves that hated the humans. Thayer hated that he had been allowed to have a child with a pure elf. Kyden was there, scared and hiding under the roots of a tree. His wolf, now one year old, sat quietly beside him hackles raised. He watched the elves surround his father. His familiar, an owl, attacked the leader of the group of elves going stright for his eyes. She gouged out his eyes before she was struck down. His father screamed and raised his staff, the grass quickly twisted around the elves. He was shot through the heart with an arrow. It was an elf in the trees that loosed it.
Kyden was shocked into silence. After the elves kicked and beat his father's body and finally left he wept. Suddenly he heard a voice in his head.
"I could hunt them down and kill them....... if you wish." The voice growled. He looked around startled and scared. His wolf stared at him calmly. He new then what his father ment. Kyden's wolf was his familiar.
After the murder his mother became more distant. He seen his mother less and less even though he lived with her then. He didn't think she cared anymore, that is if she ever had. He couldn't stand it, at the age of 13 he ran away into the forest to live with his beloved animals.
Years later an creature came out of the fairy town. He didn't trust her. Kyden watched her until it started to rain, then retreated into a nearby cave. She walked in and he snarled at her. But he didn't attack her. She had not harmed any of his animals.
