Nadeen's legs were on the brown plastic dashboard of the passenger's seat with her dark emerald green eyes closed and her arms lazily behind her head. She felt the cold breeze of air flowing through the open window of the car, making her long brown hair and open flannel shirt over her tee flow through the gusts of wind.
Opposite of Nadeen's carefree position, was Smith. He was sitting straight with his shaky hands on the wheel of the vehicle, his dark-skinned forehead glistening with nervous sweat.
"Ya know, going on a vacation together, as friends, is a good idea...I mean, it's revolutionary." Nadeen announced to Smith, who wasn't looking or paying attention to her.
"Nadeen, you know what I told you about talking to me while I'm driving?" Smith responded with a patronizing tone, his eyes glued on the road.
"I know, I know, 'eight people die every day because of distracted driving'" she said mockingly, sitting up and making air quotes. "Come on, Smithy, loosen up a bit," she added.
"Yeah, but the world is very dangerous. You can die any second, and we're driving near the cliff side too!" He said and he pushed up his glasses that slid down because of the amount of sweat he was producing.
Nadeen sighed and turned over towards the window and looked at the sea, basked by the light of the moon. She yawned and rested her eyes, dreaming about where they were going on this trip, a beautiful beach house on the Californian coast, which was a paradise for two people from snowy Michigan.
Suddenly, she heard a strange humming sound and a loud, "What the hell is that?!" from Smith. She opened her eyes and to her horror, there was a strange white orb of light, so bright it blinded both of them. Smith tried to use the brakes, but it was too late and the car rammed into the orb with an impact that of an actual car crash. Everything turned white.
Confusion. Fear. Pain. Those were the feelings Smith was having as he slowly opened his eyes and saw his wounded body. Rips in his clothes, gashes and cuts littering his body, and blood everywhere. He wanted to scream but he couldn't. He sat up with one arm, the other covering his bleeding wounds. He looked around and saw he was in a forest clearing next to a large hill. He gasped at he wrecked car with a blazing inferno at the foot of it. He deduced that them and the car tumbled down the hill, but more importantly, Nadeen. Where was she? He looked around and saw Nadeen's unconscious body lying near the ruined car.
"Nadeen!" Was the only thing he could yell.
