another day of fighting, my parents were constantly at it. i usually didn't like being in the house when it occurred so i'd sit out on the front porch, finding the simplest things to keep me occupied.
it was rough having to witness this everyday, yet, things could be way worse. i tried my best to pull through, hoping that maybe one day they'll become happy again. i fear that they'll split, but things happen for a reason.
i decided to walk next door to my best friend, shawn's house. i rang the doorbell, waiting quietly for the door to open. "hey!" shawn said as he opened the door, "hi," i replied, slightly smiling. he took notice of my tone and frowned.
"mom!" he shouted, "yeah?" she replied back. "i'm gonna sit outside with y/n!" he yelled, "be careful, okay?" she responded, "okay!" he responded, closing the door behind him.
"are they fighting again?" shawn asked, as the two of us sat on his porch swing. "yeah," i mumbled, "you okay?" he asked, i shrugged. "i hate when they're like this," i told him.
"i'm sorry, y/n," he said, "you know what?" he added. i looked over to him, "what?" i asked. "when we're older, we're gonna live together, okay? we're gonna live in a big mansion and we'll have a big sign that says no fighting allowed," he told me. i smiled, giggling at his words. "that's silly," i told him.
"i pinky promise, it's going to be awesome!" he said, holding out his pinky. i connected my pinky with his and he smiled. "we can even get married too," he said. "oh goodness! we're too young to talk about this!" i told him, he laughed.
shawn always made me happy, there was never a day where he'd make me upset and i absolutely love him, but i'll never tell him it because he might think that's icky.
"we'll be best friends forever," shawn said, "forever," i responded.

"hey guys, it's shawn mendes and this is my new singl-" i switched the radio station to a different one. i sat in my car, waiting for the light to switch to green, i couldn't bare to listen to his music without having some bit of sadness arise. his music is lovely, it's just never seeing him anymore kinda hurt.
i guess i shouldn't really care at this point, it was stupid and we were nine years old, we really didn't know anything at that age. we were kids, saying dumb things. i just wished our bond continued.
i sighed, driving forward as the light switched. shawn had become the one and only, shawn mendes. he's touring worldwide and don't get me wrong, i am absolutely proud of him.
hearing his songs on the radio just made things more difficult but i for sure listened to them when i was in the right mood. sometimes, it just felt off. him and i gradually stopped talking as he joined a group called, magcon. he continued traveling and our effort to talk to one another just changed. he then released his own music and began touring with people.
however, i am happy for him. he truly is a great guy and deserves the best in the world. i pulled up to my house, my parents were now divorced and my mom had remarried. both of my parents were much happier and i loved it.
"hey," my mom said as i entered the house. "hi," i smiled, setting my bag aside. "how was work?" she asked, "good," i told her. "did you hear shawn's new song?" she questioned, i nodded my head.
