In the year of 1865, on December 3rd, a young lady with long beautiful blonde hair walks along the sidewalk with bags in both hands as she trots home in her heels that click along her every step.
Her brown eyes that stuck onto the pavement ahead of her kept her going, she always went shopping before the winter storm hit, and went hunting before the animals went to hibernate for the cold season. This girl's name is Melody, she is one of the most beautiful women in town, she always worked hard, and always got things done.
Melody fixes her large heavy winter jacket as she waltzes her way home, many eyes stare at her as she passes by, many stare at her for her beauty, and many for lust. One man in a group of five, gained the courage to walk beside her and gain her attention."Hey there, pretty lady, need any help? I got a carriage if ye' do need my assistance," he smirks, as he stares at her figure.
"No, thank you sir, I do appreciate the kind gesture, although with all do respect, I must decline," Melody tells the man, her voice was clear as church bells ringing, but sounded graceful like a bluebird singing its favorite tune.
"B-But I do insist that I shall help ye'!" The man exclaims as he tugs on her arm, making her yelp in the process of his rough grip, she releases a few of her bags on the ground letting items of produce fall onto the cold snowy pavement.
"Goodness! I'm clumsy... Might you please release me? I must get home." Melody kindly reacts to the man's rude gesture in a kind way, she looks at his face, his green eyes glistening, a black beard, black shaggy hair tucked under a grey cap, his attire dirty with some holes. The man releases her and sighs in defeat, he finally knew that she would not take his gestures or his offers to her, as he left, Melody picks her produce off the ground before they were stolen and she was back on track to head home.
Melody's feet were light and quick so she can make it on time to her home to greet her younger sister; Hazel.
Nevertheless, she made it home safely.
Melody enters her large mansion like home; Everything cleaned and organized to perfection."Hazel! I'm home!" Melody announces throughout the house.
A petite girl with her brown hair in a slick ponytail gallops into the home room, with a plaid long skirt on and a button up shirt, a black cravat tied perfectly around her small neck.
"Good afternoon, Melody. Have you gone shopping?" Hazel asks as she looks towards the bags.
"Aye, I have, I brought you some mint leaves, these have been so hard to come by lately," Melody responds as she heads towards the small kitchen.
"I see.. How much did you gather?" The petite girl asks as she follows her eldest sister into the kitchen.
"I've gathered as much as my arms could carry," Melody sighs giving a soft look towards her sister.
"Not much then," Hazel softly sighs.
"Aye, but don't wear a puppy face, I have brought more rose petals too," Melody smiles as she pulls out a bouquet of red roses.
"Oh this will be perfect for our tea!" Hazel exclaims as she grabs the roses and begun to pluck the petals off, placing the small fragile petals onto the wooden counter.
"Aye, also tonight we're having company over," Melody smiles placing the food she had purchased away in the cabinets.
"Company? Why so?" Hazel asks as she hands her sister a small bottle of crushed leaves.
"For a party, or gathering more properly to say," Melody smiles as she takes the bottle and places it in the cabinet with a small 'Thank you,'
"A party? Why a party? Is there a special occasion?" Hazel seems confused and continues to ask many questions.Melody laughs and softly looks at her younger sister with a graceful smile, as she softly pats her head.
"You ask too many questions, Hazel. Come, let us get you ready," Melody grabs her younger sister's hand and they both walk out of the kitchen and walk up the stairs so they can prepare for the party.A few hours have passed and the clock points at 7 pm. Melody clicks her heels down the stairs and begin to place the dishes filled with luxurious food and treats, many pitches filled with fine aged red wine, and a kettle brewing with a scrumptious rabbit stew.
The downstairs cleaned, the tables with new white clothes that were finished drying from the outside, the bookshelves dusted off, everything was in order.
Soon the door was knocked on, and Melody takes one last glance at her home and begin to head for the front door to allow the guests to flood in; she soon unlocks the door and clicks the door open. A woman with a pink dress stands in front of Melody, her red hair curled and her green eyes glistening.
"Abigail! Such a pleasure for you to come," Melody greets the beautiful red haired girl.
"Oh indeed, why I would never miss an invitation from the Chappline's!" Abigail exclaims as she enters the house with a smile.
Melody continues to greet friends and attendees, and there was a boy around Hazel's age with bright blue eyes and light brown hair that is slicked back nicely.
"Good evening Miss Chappline," he greets quietly.
"Good evening! Sir?" Melody hints to have him introduce himself.
"My apologies, my name is Benjamin Ice," He introduces himself shyly.
"It's quite alright, go in, I believe my sister is searching for your appearance currently, she must be in the dinning room," Melody tells the young man giving a sweet smile. After the last few guests enter, Melody closes the door and sees maids working for her; handing food and drinks out around the party.
"Oh miss Chappline, might I say it is a pleasure for your invitation?" A male with green eyes and black hair tries to flatter Melody.
"Aye, I'm glad you accepted," Melody smiles and slightly bows her head.
"Oh miss, please, I am flattered, but might we speak about marriage?" The man asks abruptly.
"I-I beg your pardon?" Melody asks for the man to repeat.
"Marriage, I want your hand in marriage for you are the most hard working woman I have ever met, your eyes are simply enchanted," He says stepping closer to Melody.
"I-I am honored sir, but I must refuse kindly!" Melody says quickly a little afraid.
"Refuse? Nonsense! You must have a husband! And for I shall have that honor for you to be my beauteous bride!" He exclaims to have guests look towards his direction."Please excuse me, sir," Melody kindly takes her leave and flees to the upstairs book room.
