Staring into total nothingness, I clench my fists around my pen. Today is a rowdy day, where almost all the customers are shouting and frolicking about. They—the group of guys— flash through the entrance door, where the door peals a shrillding, and Adriel walks straight to me, grinning from ear to ear.

The fingers that are coiled around my pen move instantly to jot something down, but Adriel’s arrival isn’t one to be avoided.

“Thea, we need someone to help us with the tables over there.” He taps his fingernails onto the wood counter and pierces my aqua irises with his slightly darker ones. “Please?” he adds with an impish grin.

I nod, not wasting a breath for a word because I’m too tired. Adriel walks me to the guys’ table, and I notice that they have a new companion. In particular, a girl.

That’s a very good thing for me.

“What can I get you guys?” I ask with a cashier’s perky smile.

None of them replies to me, and they just keep on blabbering loudly to each other.
