There was a boy who stood in the midst of a crowd. Despite the enticing noise of the crowd, he remained silent and stared blankly with pale, unforgiving eyes into the setting sun on the horizon.
After a while, he realized that the crowd had disappeared. He was alone. He started walking, having no real sense of direction. Naturally, after walking for countless hours, he got tired. He wanted to stop but he thought; "Will I ever get another chance to explore without having any boundaries?"
He ignored the aching pain on his back and knees and continued walking. As he walked, the world around him started disintegrating, leaving a blinding white background. He felt as if all his limitations disintegrate along with the past world. He felt free.
But then something stopped him. He believed that this was his safe haven. This place was untouchable, set deep within the inner mechanisms of his mind. "But this is my dream," he thought. Then he remembered that nightmares were dreams too.
He stared into a blob on the perfect white landscape, into oblivion. He was stunned, horrified as more dark blobs appeared all around him. He watched as the blobs twisted together, bending and mixing into an intricate shape. Now he was no longer staring into a random blob on a blank surface. But into the eyes of a face. All around him there were expressionless faces.
And they were all staring at him.
