'Dear Mom
I've been travelling for 16 days now; My feet are blistering, I desperately need a wash and I'm running out of supplies - but I'm slowly learning how to live out here. I took out 8 walkers the other day, can you believe it? Me! The girl that could never fight. I made myself pretty proud to say the least. I miss a couple of people back at the camp but in these harsh times we just have to move on. Besides, I couldnt ask them to come with me because they have their own family. Carl has Rick and Judith and Daryl has this huge need to protect Beth. Like he had the need to protect me. Anyway, I saw smoke on the hills yesterday so I'm making my way up there to see if there are more survivors.
I'll write more tomorrow, Mom,
Love,
Elena x'

'You have to go. Now.' Daryl yelled, forcing a backpack into my unexpecting arms and filling it with whatever was nearby. The Greene Family farmhouse was being swamped by hundreds of walkers and our group was falling apart. 'I gotta go help the others,' Daryl explained, making his way to the door. That was it. I couldn't stop myself from bursting into tears. 'Daryl you're all I've got left in the world. You and Carl are the only things that matter to me any more. Please don't go out there, its a suicide mission,' I begged, tears rolling down my cheeks. I understood that he had to go be a hero, do what he was good at. It was selfish but I needed him with me. Since I found the group back in Atlanta, he was the person I always found myself running to. Any problems I had, questions I had to ask - I spoke to Daryl first. Always.
'Elena, listen to them screaming! They need me,' he screamed, eyeing the window.
'Daryl! You're family now - a brother..a father. I'm begging you.' I pleaded. He was having none of it. His heart was set on saving our friends, so I knew it was no use. 'Fine. If you're going out there, I'm going too,'
'No , absolutely not! You have to help Beth and Patricia get supplies into the cars! You're not gonna get yourself killed!' Daryl shouted, his voice getting worn.
'Oh, but you are? I'm coming, Daryl.'
'Elena for christs sake, I know what's best for you here!' His reply sounded final. I knew I'd lost the argument and he was going to risk, and possibly end, his life for others. I closed my eyes and began to calm my breathing. I thought Daryl would've left, but before I knew it I felt a pair of arms wrap around my back. 'You do some good work for those people, you understand? You're gonna keep 'em alive,'. His words echoed in my ears as his presence around me dispersed. 'Stay alive,' I whispered as he ran out of the door.
The gunshots mixed with the squelch of a walker being killed made my stomach turn. 'I should be out there, helping them,' I thought to myself. I snapped back to reality when I heard the horn of a car peeping. Grabbing the bag Daryl had given me and two other duffel bags full of ammo, food, clothes and blankets, I ran out to the porch. Beth and Patricia were waiting, also with bags and horrified looks on their faces. Walkers were everywhere; Hershel was in my line of view gunning them down, Glenn and Maggie were driving round the field taking out as many of them as possible and there was another car with T-Dog, Lori and Carol in it. I had no idea where Andrea was, or Rick. But the main two names on my lips belonged to the people I cared about most; Where the hell were Carl and Daryl?!
