Marks POV

I blankly stare at the back table in the cafeteria, where Jack and Felix sit, talking amongst themselves. For some reason, I can't take my attention off of it, completely ignoring my surroundings. I hear everyone talking around me, but I'm not processing it. All I can focus on is the smile on Jacks face.

"Mark? Hello? Are you alive?" Tyler says, waving his hand in front of my face. I turn around, facing the group.

"What do you know about him?" I say, nodding toward Felix.

"Which 'him'?"

"Felix. Blond one."

"He's originally from Sweden. He moved here from Ireland," Ethan says. I don't question how he got this information, just go on with my investigation.

"I need new information, I already know this stuff."

"Okay, well... uh, see the boy he's with?" I nod, allowing him to continue. "Jack McLoughlin. He's basically Felix's other half. Felix barely leaves him alone for a second. Who knows why, but it seems he's quite overprotective."

"Do you know anything else?"

"No, that's all."

"Thanks, Ethan." I look back over at the couple. The both of them are laughing, and I can't help but wonder what they're laughing about.

"Why are you so interested in Felix Kjellberg?"

"I had a run in with Jack. I got a little... curious."

"Ooooh!" Bob sings, far louder than he should have. "Marki has a crush!!"

"Bob! Shut up!" I snap, turning to see Jack giving me a skeptical look. I smile at him, and he gives me a wave. Felix taps him on the shoulder, making him turn away from me and focus his attention on Felix again.

"You're blushing!" Tyler points out. I cover his mouth with my hand.

"All of you, shut the hell up! He's literally two tables away!" I hiss in a whisper. Tyler pries my hand off his mouth.

"Cool it, Mark. We're just kidding around."

I lean back in my seat, glancing at Jack one more time before returning to the conversation.

...

I wait in the foyer for Bob and Wade. Wade is driving the both of us home. Currently, the two of them are in class. Held back after talking back to a teacher, or at least that's what Wades vague text told me.

So, here I sit, going through Twitter with a pillow of boredom on my chest.

How did both of those idiots get into trouble at the same time?

"Mark!" A familiar Irish voice shouts from across the hallway. I turn to see Jack walking toward me. He sits beside me, grinning widely. "Hey! How was your first day?"

I make an indescribable groaning noise. Jack laughs.

"That bad, huh?"

"It was a long day, and I'm glad it's over. What about you?"

Jack shrugs. "It could have been worse."

"That is a good attitude. I like that." I give him a smile that he flawlessly returns.

"I'm waiting for Felix to get out of a meeting with the guidance councillor," he tells me.

"Oh? Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, I think so. See, I used to have a therapist in Ireland, but when I moved over the summer, we cut off the visits. I think he's worried about me and is looking for someone else for me to talk to."

I nod, just to show I'm listening. As much as I want to ask more questions, I can tell that Jack will just open right up for me, and I don't want to take this information if he shouldn't be giving it out.

"Felix is a good friend," he continues, dropping his head so he's no longer looking at me. I don't miss the way his smile falters. "He's always taken care of me. It's just--I don't know--it's just... hard, with him? It's always hard. No matter what I do, he makes it a cry for help, or something that I 'can't control.' That's his favourite line when I'm freaking out. 'You can't control it. It's not your fault.'"

"What do you mean?"

Before Jack can reply, Felix shows up. I curse his timing, allowing him to pick Jack up by the arm and talk to him quietly, then escort him outside without a word.

He returns alone.

"Mark, right?" He says shortly. He walks over to me, but doesn't sit down.

"Yes," I mumble.

"Good." He strings his hands together, giving me a hard look. "Listen here, Mark," My name drips from his mouth like venom, burning a whole into the floor. "Leave Jack alone, okay? He's cheery, and completely gullible, and he doesn't need anyone taking advantage of him."

"Who says I was planning on taking advantage of him?" I stand, not really squaring up to Felix. I'm a little shorter than he is.

He ignores the question.

"Jack doesn't need someone slipping into his life who doesn't fully understand his situation. He doesn't need anyone that will just be in the way instead of helping him. He doesn't understand abandonment, so you showing up and disappearing won't stand."

"You're making some pretty harsh accusations."

"Yeah, well every one of them are true."

"Maybe so, but I'm not just appearing. I happen to like Jack. I enjoy his company."

"You don't know him."

"I'd like to change that." Felix rolls his eyes, but I stop him before he says anything else. "He's not a child. He gets to chose who he hangs out with, and it seems he's made a decision with me. Besides, wouldn't it hurt him if you took someone out of his life?"

Felix opens his mouth, but snaps it closed. He huffs loudly, stomping back outside.

(Yo yo!

Okay, that was disgusting, moving on.

How are you enjoying the story? I like writing it, so I hope it isn't hell to read. I wanted to point out that I perfectly understand that Ethan isn't the same age as Mark, I just like him and I wanted him to be the same age so psh. Besides, this is a fanfiction. I can do whatever I please :)

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, see you in the next one. *waves*
