From Mom - Two years today. I'm waiting to see you in one of these videos sooner or later.
To Mom - About to go in a meeting, ttyl
I sighed. I didn't actually have a meeting at the moment; that was a litle bit later, but I needed some excuse. Though I was perfecty fine with being on the sidelines, my mom thought that I deserved better. She paid for me to travel to California and bought a portion of my apartment for me and my best friend. But she told me that I wouldn't leave her and my dad without doing something for her. I was to become a star, either with my music or in comedy.
And that's what I did... sort of. I worked for Smosh, a famous YouTube channel. I helped manage their gaming channel, SmoshGames. Those guys were some of my best friends. They gave me an amazing job, with great people, in a beautiful city. When I moved to Los Angeles two years ago, I knew nobody. Now, I'm connected to all sorts of people and I couldn't love it more.
But I wasn't on camera.
And that was what my mother was talking about. Two years and she has yet to see me on her computer screen. My job planning hundreds of videos isn't enough for her.
Once again, I sighed. I didn't want to leave California and become a lawyer. It wasn't me. But unless I got famous on the internet, I would be forced to move back home.
BEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP!
My meeting was in 45 minutes and I still had to get dressed and eat breakfast. Oh well, I'll stop by a McDonalds or something. Scrambling to unravel myself from the peaceful comfort of my green duvet, I peeked in the mirror. My long brown hair was a knotted mess and mascara had rubbed all over my eyes because I hadn't bothered to take it off last night. My eyes, once blue-green, were dulled by lack of sleep. I had been up late editing a video. Wes and I shared that job. I would need makeup too before I left for the office.
By the time I was ready, it was 10:07. I had about 27-30 minutes to drive-through McDonalds and get to the meeting. Ready, set, go!
