Eleanor followed her captor through the cold halls of the castle, shivering slightly
"Erm, Rumplestiltskin, do you think we could put some lamps on or something, it's freezing out here" he looked at her surprised; he'd forgotten that mortals felt the cold. How irresponsible of him! He conjured a blanket that draped around her
"My apologies, dearie" they continued in silence until they reached a part of the castle Eleanor had never ventured. They abruptly stopped outside large double doors and Rumplestiltskin magicked it open with a dramatic flick of his wrist, conjuring a blindfold around her eyes at the same time
"What are you doing?" She laughed
"It's a surprise" he giggled, playfully, and put a hand on her elbow, guiding her inside, closing the doors behind him
"Are you ready, dearie?" He whispered, a lot closer to her than she had thought. Nervously, she nodded and he pulled the blindfold up off her face. Eleanor gasped loudly and admirably. She was stood in the largest library she'd ever seen! Thousands upon thousands of books stretched out as far as she could see, the shelves went right up to the high ceiling. Eleanor turned in a circle, drinking in as much as possible, as though she was trying to read every book simultaneously. The Dark One watched her nervously
"Do you like it?" He asked
"Rumple, I love it" she was still studying the shelves, Rumplestiltskin swallowed hard at the use of the nickname. Nobody had called him Rumple since Milah... he had to admit, it sounded far more beautiful in Eleanor's voice - almost like music
"Well, it's yours" he told her, watching for her reaction
"All of it?" She gasped again. This was everything she had ever dreamed of
"Of course, dearie. Yours to take advantage of on your breaks and evenings. It is at your disposal"
"Can Katherine come here too with me?"
"Of course, as I said, it is yours. You decide who you bring here"
"Thank you!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. Rumplestiltskin froze for a minute. It had been decades, possibly centuries, since anybody had hugged him. Warily he put a stiff arm around her back, hoping he'd achieved a semblance of an acceptable embrace. Eleanor didn't seem to notice his poor attempt at a hug and pulled back, smiling up at him
"Thank you so much" she said again. Rumplestiltskin smiled slightly, then stopped himself
"Don't think this gives you a free rein, dearie. I don't want you to think this means you can start slacking. I'd hate to have to take it away from you"
"No, of course not. In fact, I'm going to work twice as hard to get all my work done and get up here as soon as possible. It's beautiful!" Her voice was filled with glee and she span around again, Rumplestiltskin watched her in amazement. She was so relaxed and unguarded in his presence. He hadn't expected how good he would feel, doing a nice thing. He almost enjoyed it
"I should get back to my spinning, I hate to have my work fall behind" he told her, almost reluctantly
"Oh, yes, of course. I suppose I should retire to my chambers anyway. I'll need my rest if I'm to work extra hard tomorrow" she flashed him a grin and he returned it
"Then I bid you goodnight" he bowed slightly and, before she could respond, he waved his hand and she was once again stood outside her bedroom door. She couldn't wait to tell Katherine in the morning!
