i sat down at the table. The restaurant was dimly lit and rather quiet. It was a nice atmosphere for our meeting.  the waiter walked by a couple times, asking if I wanted bread or what I would like to drink.  i was in a black lace dress with a velvet chocker necklace.  It was a bit fancy, but it wasn’t too much. he walked up to the table and sat down.

“hello, Veronica” he said softly. “I do apologize for my lateness” His voice was smooth like melting ice.  He had brown eyes that would appear red in the light. His hair was a soft, dull, black. He gazed at me with a hit of a smile on his face and darkness in his eyes.

“oh its fine” I muttered.

he leaned down and gracefully kissed my hand. “may I say you look wonderful tonight, like a perfect rose at its peak, right before it dies and becomes a timeless beauty.”

“th-thank you” I stuttered. a odd choice of words to use, but then again, that was his style.

“you look rather fetching, yourself.” I said smoothly. He was wearing a black blazer with a dark red shirt underneath and black formal pants. he had a tattoo of a red snake on the top of his left hand. The waiter came up to the table.

“Shall we start with a drink? we have a vast selection of different wine and alcoholic beverages.”  The waiter stated as he got out his small note book.

“Yes, one bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak.” He ordered.

“Very good sir, tell me if you need anything else.” The waiter remarked as he began to walk away.

“Why now?” he asked calmly. I never thought he was that bold, but I guess someone had to ask.

“It’s taken a toll on me, I fear it might have the same effect on others.” I stated.  “I would advise you to never drag someone in again, well at least not without their consent.” A grin spread across his face, showing his slightly pointed teeth.

he started to laugh “ why would I take advice from you? After it happened you turned on us.” His smile faded. “you almost put An end to us and now you’re telling me not to recruit anyone?” he paused for a sort second. Disgust set in his eyes. “you must truly hate us.”

“no one should have to go through what I did, no one should be forced to live that life!” I shouted with faint tears in my eyes.

“I’m sorry, we misjudged you. we thought you were one of the same, and you’re not. for that, I am truly sorry.” He said with regret.

“how many other people will get “misjudged”?! Is there any right person to play that role?” I exclaimed.

“Yes there are people that can accept it, we found them and recruited them with open arms.” He smiled “we even got a guardian to join us!”  the waiter walked by and poured the wine.

“ so now someone’s walking around with a guardian demon! How many lives must you ruin to see that your cause in unjust! How many people will you lie cheat and steal from before you realize, its all for nothing.” I paused. “your never going to win, you’ll always be stuck in the underground, in a dark pit of your own making.”

“yes but I would call it more of a kingdom, then a pit.” He looked me in the eye and smiled. “I would rip out each and every one of their souls, I will feed their hearts to my hounds and throw their limbs to the hawks that circle what’s left of their corpses, for no purpose accept the pure fear in their eyes and the beauty of their flowing blood. I enjoy my darkness, I don’t feel guilty about my pleasures.”  I felt my blood boil as he sat there smiling at what he was. A demon of pure thirst, A soul hunter. I would never be like him. I would never be a monster controlled my thirst and lust. i might of been a demon but i was not that.

he stood up. “I really must be going. I hope you see my point of view a bit better.” He said calmly. “good night veronica.”
