The walk to the hospital was the longest ten minutes of Rachel's life.

It was more of a run, than a walk, but nonetheless. The sound of her heart pounding in her ears was the only sound loud enough to interrupt her mind other than screaming, and although she wanted to, the residents of Beacon Hills who weren't yet awake wouldn't take kindly to the scream of.. whatever the hell she was. Her abilities were the last thing on her mind right now.

Both Scott and his mother had offered to drive her to the hospital, the two intended on stopping by to check on the werewolf anyway, but Rachel couldn't stand the thought of sitting in a car. She wanted to run. She needed to run to ease the anxiety building in her chest. The closer she got, the more fearful she became— she couldn't get the look on Scott's face out of her head.

"Stop freaking out." She mumbled to herself as she approached the hospital doors. Why was she so afraid? It wasn't the first time she'd heard Isaac was in the hospital. The alpha pack nearly killed him while she was in London with Jackson, and her only focus when she returned home was yelling at Derek.

The brunette slowed her pace as she entered the hospital, fixing her hair to look less like she'd run the entire way there. She was breathing heavily, and she doubted she'd stop even when she cooled off from running. She bypassed the desk near the entrance and headed for the elevator, pressing the button of the floor she'd been staying on.

Rachel tapped her foot impatiently, watching the numbers screen above the doors slowly change until it landed upon the floor she'd selected. The doors opened with a ding and the girl stepped out. She made her way down to the nurse's station straight ahead, where a receptionist-slash-nurse was stationed behind the desk.

"Can I help you?" The woman asked, adjusting her glasses. She was on the older side of middle aged, and had reddish shoulder length hair. Her brown eyes looked black staring down at the various sheets of paper scattered in front of her, and she seemed to have a permanent scowl etched on her face.

"Yeah, I'm here to see a patient." Rachel replied, leaning on the desk. "His name's Isaac Lahey."

The woman glanced up at her, and then back down at the mess of papers in front of her. She moved a few sheets to the side, pulling out a beige file folder; within it Rachel could see a few sheets of paper, but she couldn't decipher the messy handwriting. The woman's eyes scanned over the papers for a few seconds, before looking back up at Rachel. "Sorry, no visitors."

"Not even family?" The brunette furrowed her brows.

"His chart doesn't list any family. Name?"

"Rachel Hale." She kicked herself for not lying about her last name. Not that it would've worked; she'd been here just hours ago in a coma. Knowing her luck, they certainly wouldn't forget her that quickly.

"Nothing here lists you as a relative." The nurse spoke in a monotone voice, eyeing the girl. "Only family's allowed."

"His family's dead." The chimera stated bluntly, waiting for the woman's face to show any sign of sympathy. It didn't. "I'm the closest thing he has."
