There was a little girl with rainbow hair long as she was tall
The tale begins long ago, begins when she was small
She knew her hair very well
She counted every strand
She knew that it was wonderful
She knew that it was grand
Ma and Pa taught her all she knew
They taught her what to think
They taught her every right from wrong
Taught her her hair was pink
They said, "listen and we'll teach you, teach you what to do"
"If we know one thing about His will, it's that pink belongs with blue"
She was taken aback, confused, twisted
Of all the things that they had listed
This was the most random rule
The point she really must have missed it
Pink with blue?
Why not red?
The hair her best friend had on her head
As she did love her best friend
Why couldn't she be the one she one day wed?
"Mommy, I don't understand,"
"Why can't I hold red's hand?
But oh what a question
What a foul, sinful suggestion
Because little pinks go with little blues
None of those other confused hues
So she never asked again
And by those rules she would live
Telling others they must too
That if not was just crude
Spiteful she became
She'd take the message to the grave
If they had come too late
But luckily they came
Right
On
Time
They asked her why she lived this way
Demanding others did so too
Why her rainbow hair was in a knot
Why she insisted pinks must like blues
"Rainbow hair? But I am pink"
"No, you silly, don't you see
There's every hue in your hair
So love any colour that you please"
