Lina was released from the hospital the next day. She decided to start out with the local library since it seemed to be the right place. Her town was a small place, not like the others, a certain mystery was always lurking in the air, but nobody knew anything, and if they did, their lips were sealed. She picked up her phone and texted her friends to meet her at the library.
After everyone arrived at the library, they split up to cover more information. Lina's task was to go through the computer files and check the town's history. Sydney distracted the librarian while Lina quickly sneaked onto her computer. She fussed around and rummaged through the files. Trying different search options and going into the town's deepest history. While doing so, she accidentally knocks over the librarian's cup of coffee.
Sydney's POV:
CRASHH!
I knew exactly where that sound came from. "Why wasn't Lina more careful?" I thought.
"What was that?" The librarian turned. I had to buy Lina more time. "I'm sure it's one of my friends messing around with the books. Guys, please be careful with the books," I nervously stuttered, but to my demise, she knew it was coming from her office. She put all the books back and started pacing back to her office. "I know what I heard and it was not just some book! It came from my office!" She ranted in my face. I picked up my speed and trailed after her.
"I REALLY don't think checking your office is quite necessary,"just as I speak, she flung the door open. Everything was in place, except for the coffee mug which was laying still on the floor as the coffee submerges into her dull grey carpet. A soft wind blows by and I look up: the window was open. She got away right on time.
Jane, Leon and Landon rush in after having heard the fuss. "Any luck with the books?" I whisper. They all shook their heads. "For a local library, this place has no info about ANY of it's history. Nothing. It's like it doesn't exist." Leon says.
The librarian rushes around checking for everything. In confusion, Jane asks," Uhm, Is everything alright?". The librarian turns to us, looking paranoid more than terrified and in a cold manner, "Leave. NOW. And don't bother looking for answers. Listen to me if you know whats right for you.". We all glance a each other in shock and do as we were told.
Lina's POV:
I was waiting for them for a couple of minutes before I saw them pacing out of the library coming my way. I run up to them and they look at me confused. They told me everything.
"Wow, that's just messed up. She is probably demented, she's been working at that library our whole lives, it is about time that she began loosing some screws upstairs. Don't take it personally guys. We just moved a step forward!" I squealed.
"What do you mean? We couldn't get any information from the books, we have been banned from the library and you barely found anything before having to escape." Landon sighed.
"That's where you're wrong. While I was going through everything, I knew I was going to need more time to look deeper into all of this. That computer had a ton of information about this ton's history which is shocking since the books don't. I duplicated all the files and transferred them into this flash." I hold out a small, blue flash, smirking.
Lina's House
We all gathered around the computer and plugged in the flash. I typed in the only thing I could think of "1950-1958. a little girl's death," and pressed Enter. Something had come up. A Newspaper titled "Mysterious death of Angelina Ross. Only Aged 8. 1950-1958".
We instinctively glance at each other. What did this mean?
