Tydus paced around the hallway, gently nibbling on his fingernails. His dark blue cloak skimmed the ground behind him as he paced, his heart hammered as he looked back at the door to his side. Two guards posted outside stood steaight, stiller than statues.
"Can you hear anything?" Tydus asked them.
"No, my lord. The walls are thick." one of the guards said softly, Tydus returned to his pacing.
"I curse the day these walls were built, then." He laughed, nerves overtaking him.
"I'm certain everything in there is going smoothly, you tend to worry hard, my lord." His guard replied, a comforting smile to his face.
"Yes, I'm sure everything is fine, i just worry about Addriana. She's frail." Tydus continued to pace, he went back to chewing.--Several hours later--
"King Tydus!" He heard, a black haired woman with bright icy blue eyes approaching him from down the hall.
"Yes? Any news?" he asked, a hopeful smile on his face.
"It's a girl." She said, her full lips upturned in a smile.
"I have a daughter?" He asked, grinning "Can i see her?"
"Yes, the Queen is requesting you." She said, gesturing for him to follow. He fell in step beside her with excitement, his heart squeezing.
"Did Addriana do alright? Is she okay?" Tydus fidgeted.
"Yes, sire. There were minor complications, but nothing we couldn't handle, she is fine, if a little weak and tired." The midwife smiled and led him to the door, opening it slowly.
"They're waiting inside, your highness." The midwife said as her companions stepped out carrying bloody towels and buckets of now-cold red water, relieved but tired smiles on each of their faces. Tydus stepped into the room, soft coos and a gentle humming was the only sounds in the room, Addriana looked at Tydus, her long chocolate hair was tied up ad oit of her face, which was drenched in mostly-dry sweat. Her green eyes were tired and focused on the bundle in her arms, which squirmed when she tapped the nose of the tiny baby that wiggled within.
"Adri..." Tydus said softly, sitting on the fur blanket which was draped over Adrianna's lap.
"Tydus." She jumped, smiling at her husband. "We have a baby girl!" she said excitedly. He smiled and his gaze drifted to the pink bundle.
"Can i hold her?" he asked, reaching his hands out.
"Of course!" Adrianna said softly, giving the baby to Tydus, she squeaked softly as she was handed over.
"Oh, Adri...look at her!" He grinned and tears welled in his eyes. The baby in his arms had pale green eyes, like her mother's, a full head of fuzzy golden hair rested atop her head, her eyelashes looked dusted with gold as she blinked up at him, she was pale with rosy pink cheeks, her face already slim even for a newborn.
"She's beautiful!" he cried, laughing. "How we made something so beautiful is a mystery to me." Tydus slipped his finger into the tiny girl's grasp, she kicked her feet around as he tickled her palm.
"What will we name her?" Addriana asked, a loving smile on her face.
"She's so beautiful. Her hair is...its so gold. It reminds me of our Goddess of Light, Lyrantha." Tydus said, smiling.
"Then we will call her Lyra." Addriana said, "In honor of our gods, who have blessed us with a beautiful baby girl." Tydus smiled, his blue eyes sparkled.
"Lyra. Hello, sweet Lyra!" He said, recieving a sweet smile from the baby, she shrieked a little giggle and the two proud parents laughed with her, Addriana petted the top of her daughter's head, weaving her fingers in the silky gold.
"Lyra Amanita Ender." She said softly, stretching to place a kiss on Lyra's head.
"We love you, little girl." Tydas planted a kiss on her forehead.
