I don't know how long I had been sitting, when I heard shuffling noises. I opened my heavy eyes slowly. It sounded like someone had found me, and I wondered if it was that fire girl again.
"Heya, kid. What's a human like you doin' round here?" A rough voice greeted my ears. It sounded like he had smoked more than was healthy.
Which is any.
I lifted my head and saw a large, Doberman-looking dog monster. Behind him was a lizard and rabbit monster. All wore torn clothing, and the rabbit had a piece of fabric acting as an eyepatch. I could practically imagine them snapping jazzily as they approached me slowly.
I hadn't responded, so the dog laughed loudly. "What, cat get yer tongue? That's too bad. I guess nobody else will get to watch you die."
He pounced forward, and I screeched as something sharp sliced down my leg. But no more came. I sat shivering, hot tears streaming down my cheeks, not wanting to open my eyes.
Then there was a bang, and whimpering. "And don't come back, unless you want a real bad time." My head shot up at Sans' voice. The thugs quickly ran, tails between their legs- literally.
As soon as they were gone, I spoke. "...Sans..." My voice was hoarse from crying.
His head snapped to me, panting heavily. He ran over to me and wrapped me up in a hug, crying loudly. "Y/n, I'm so sorry! Please don't leave me!"
Too emotional for words, I just hugged back, sobbing into his shoulder. We sat like that for a long time, until our tears slowed down.
I laughed sadly, wiping my eyes with my hand. "I'd never had guessed."
"What?"
"You were so desperate!" I laughed, but choked, coughing.
"Hey, like you weren't." He replied, swiping at his tears. "I- I really love you Y/n. I never want to lose you."
"I know. Me too." I moved to kiss his cheek, but a searing pain ripped through my leg. "GAAHH!!!"
"Oh no, I forgot! We need to get you to G." He wrapped his arms around me and teleported us home. "Crap, he's not home yet! Stay here." He set me on the couch and teleported, leaving me with my tears and pain.
Gaster's POV
Alphys and I just made it back to the Lab, exhausted from all the walking in the heat, when Sans teleported in front of us. He looked miserable! His cheekbones were stained by tears, and his clothes were muddy, probably a mix of snow and dirt. His eyes darted around, frantic.
"Sans! Did you find her?" I grabbed his shoulders, forcing him to look at me.
"She- I- Needs help. Home!" He teleported us home, and I realized what was wrong. Y/n lay on the couch, blood gushing from a slash in her leg. Her lips and fingers were dull blue from frostbite, which was not good, considering her excessive blood loss.
"Y/n! Tell me, what caused the cut?" I needed to make sure there was no poison or anything. She groaned, slightly lifting her shoulders. She didn't know. I turned to Sans. "Do you know?"
"Th- The dog scratched her."
I nodded. No poison then. I gathered my medical supplies and began cleaning the wound. The first few seconds, she screamed, but then she passed out from the pain. That just made my job easier. I slowly cleaned away the old blood, and wrapped a bandage around it. It was a lot deeper than I initially thought.
Next I carefully layered blankets over her, to get the blood flowing. Hopefully we wouldn't need to amputate any fingers or toes.
"That's all we can do for now." I stepped away, and Sans immediately sat down, setting her head on his lap- just like he did when we gave her the new soul.
I decided to leave them be.
Your POV
I floated just beneath consciousness, reveling in the peaceful comfort. Eventually though, I knew I needed to wake up. I opened my eyes and found Sans staring down at me. His eyes gave away the fact he had been crying.
"How ya feeling?"
I thought for a second. My leg was throbbing painfully, but I was a lot warmer. "...Alright."
"I'm so sorry about all this. I'm so stupid." He scolded himself quietly.
"No you're not. It's my fault for snapping at you in the first place."
"I shouldn't have kept it a secret. But- I couldn't tell you." He said nervously.
"What were you even going to do?"
He shifted under my head, clearly trying not to tell me. The nerves were practically dripping off him.
"SANS! I GOT THE RING! DID YOU STILL WANT IT?" Papyrus burst through the door, and Sans jumped up, throwing my head to the side.
"NO NO that's fine thanks Pap I'll just take that." He snatched something from Papyrus' hand, blushing brightly.
I sat up, curious. My leg ached, but I ignored it. "What is it?"
"SANS SENT ME TO GET A R-"
Sans jumped and slammed a hand into his mouth, shutting him up. "That's enough of that, you need to lay back down." He pushed lightly on me, but I resisted.
"Sans, just tell me what it is. This is just like earlier." I instantly regretted the words, because he teared up. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry." Now I was teary-eyed. "It's just hard, knowing you're keeping secrets from me."
He collapsed next to me on the couch. "I need to tell you. It was going to be super romantic, but I guess this works too." He got down on one knee, and instantly I teared up. "I was going to go buy the ring and plan the proposal with G and Pap earlier, but instead, Papyrus picked one up for me while you were asleep. I'm sorry this isn't very romantic, but I truly love you. Knowing you're a human and I'm a monster just make me realize how lucky I am to have you in my life. So, I want to ask you...
Y/n M/n L/n, will you marry me?"
