It was the last day of high school, graduation, and I was accepted at Stanford. My life had been pretty normal for a girl my age, except with a lot of money and important events. My family is the type that stays together no matter what, and that only exist in fairytales. However, both my parents have planned a future for me and my brother. Which is basically being the top students and following their path. I'm still not sure if that's exactly what I want, but as my dad tells me, we're too young to know anything, so I trust their opinion.
Today there is a party at my house to celebrate my graduation, and as always, it's going to be full, and with full I mean important people everywhere. This is due to the fact that my dad is the owner of a big company and my mom is one of the best plastic surgeons, so we were quite spoiled growing up. My parents adore my boyfriend Scott, mainly because they know him since he was a kid, and because he is a DuPont. Another very rich family. Our relationship is particularly different because we keep fighting and arguing over small things, yet, I believe that in any good relationship there should be arguments. Still, we keep eventually being drawn back together by our parents, so our discussions never last more than a day. For tonights party I had bought my dress with my bestfriend Valerie last week, so I already had everything planned.
"Ready?" asked Scott while opening my bedroom door.
"In a minute" I answered immediately.
"Quick. We don't want to keep the guests waiting"
After I finished putting my earrings on, I walked to Scott and he gently kissed my forehead.
"You look beautiful." he smiled and grabbed by hand to help me walk down the stairs.
As I go down, I instantly face a huge amount of people and servants walking around. I spot my mom and start walking towards her. She looked gorgeous on her Calvin Klein dress while talking to some people that I suppose were doctors. As she sees me, she finishes her conversation and walks to me.
"You look wonderful sweetie. Are you sure you don't want to invite more of your friends?"
"No, it's fine. There's already a lot of people here and Scott and Val are enough. Thank you"
"But Charlotte, it's your graduation and-"
"No mom, really, it's okay" I interrupt "I'm gonna see if Valerie is outside. Be right back"
I walk to the entrance where a lot of door men were controlling the passage. I go down the stairs and as the clumsy person that I am, I trip on my long stupid dress and fall, face on the floor. Luckily everyone was too busy to even notice my embarassing fall. As I start getting back up, I feel a warm hand on my waist and another on my hand lifting me up.
"Are you okay ma'am?"
When I look, I see this guy dressing as one of the workers my parents called for the party. He looked around my age, or even older. He had these gorgeous blue eyes that were staring right into mine. And thats when I forgot to answer.
"Hmm, yeah. S-sure. Thank you" I answer quite ashamed. I get up and fix my hair and dress "I'm Charlotte. Charlotte Wellington" I shake his hand.
"I'm Christopher Fletcher. You can call me Chris" There was an awkward pause and he just smiled "I need to get back to work now. Nice to meet you Charlotte"
"Nice to meet you too Chris" he goes up the stairs and continues doing his work
After he left, I was still amazed by how charming and nice he was. In my private school all the guys are spoiled little jerks and I haven't seen one like this in a while.
"Charlotte!" calls Valerie "Here you are! Who was that you were talking to?"
"Hey Val! I don't know. I mean, I know his name. Chris. But I don't know who he is. I wish I knew though" I say still staring at him working in the distance.
"Uhuh, be careful C, they say love at first sight is a powerful thing" jokes Val "C'mon, lets go inside"
We went inside to meet up with Scott. After a few hours of laughing and drinking the party was over. I went to my bedroom window to see if I could still see that Chris guy. But everyone had already left. I wanted to see him again but I knew nothing about Chris, not even where he lived so there was only one solution. I would have to organize another party. I pick up my cellphone and start typing.
"Meet me tomorrow at Ben's. Need to talk to you, Val! I think I have an idea. Charlotte"
