I'm Hazel, in 11th grade, and have more bad luck then good. My grades are not the best, and I have a hopeless love for one of my friends, James Mallory. Basically things have just gone from bad, to worse in a matter of moments. Now, I go to a dumb ass private school, the kind that go k-12, and I have had a crush on James for almost 5 years, and to say the least.. it's absolutely useless. Besides that, I'm failing two classes, resulting in a 'in school suspension', meaning no field trips, no skipping classes, and basically no fun.

I'm what they call 'the artsy type', so I act, sing, dance, you get the gist. Anyways, in Drama class we are going to film a movie in the park about 20 minutes away, aka field trip, aka, a no go for me. So, now that you know my pitiful background, time for the story to resume. A few minutes before I was staring into James' gorgeous eyes..

The horrid drama teacher, Mrs. Bailey, slowly called out the names of the students in each scene group. Name after name, waiting for mine to be called, and for I to be put in the worst group. "And the last group, please see me in a moment, Hazel, Andrew, and James." My heart skipped a beat, I was so incredibly excited, it took a lot for me to not show it. And then, my heart sank. I couldn't even go on the field trip with him. I was suspended for being dumb. And just like that, what was seeming to be a great day went to, well, shit.

Mrs. Bailey wanted to see us so my group got us and moved to her desk crammed in the corner, sheets of paper splayed everywhere. Here is comes, the 'Hazel has other work to attend to, so she won't be joining you' talk. "You all have in school suspensions, so you will be staying at school during the field trip. Please still get together during this block when the rest of the class is away, and plan your scene."

I was so incredibly confused. The beautiful, perfect, James was failing a class? No way. But the other guy in our group.. total delinquent. No surprise there. Mrs. Bailey went on and on about things that I didn't care about, and then told us to go work. We separated from her and sat in a circle. James began, "I think we can really help with this, something really good could happen.." And I'm sure he said something absolutely brilliant, but I couldn't concentrate.

'I looked into his eyes. And they looked directly into mine. Piercing, bright, blue. He was saying things, but honestly I didn't understand a word, all I could do was stare hopelessly into his eyes and listen to his deep voice. I zoned back in to hear the last couple of words and mumbled a "Yeah, that's a good idea.." And look back at the ground. I looked back over to see him biting his lip and staring at the ground mindlessly. I smiled to myself as I tried to pull myself together. It was going to be a long few days.'
