Let me make one thing clear: I absolutely DON'T need therapy of any sort. I am not some sort of bully with anger issues and a history of trouble. My therapist, Dr. Enklfir, does not agree with me. "So, Lillian--" "It's LILLY, Dr. Enklfir. And I am, of course, so very glad to be here with you today," I dryly comment. I don't have to cooperate with this woman. "Of course, Lilly. Let's start. So if I am correct, you have anger issues, depression, and anxiety?" The words spouting from her mouth feel like a knife stabbing me in the back. "Oh, doctor, I would dare to disagree. I don't have any mental problems of the sort. I'm ever so perfectly fine."
Dr. Enklfir raises an eyebrow. She looks rather unconvinced.
"Well... As you can see, I'm just fine... Not problematic, I do believe - er - I'm mentally healthy, which would, of course, exclude any need of your amazing services, doctor." She smirks, her eyes sparkling a bit. Perhaps that's why she is a therapist - she finds it fun to try to pry into my secrets, uncover the reasons for my problems. "Yes, well, as a therapist, I've heard of the term 'mask', Lilly. I'm well aware that you are doing this little act for - what? To get out of therapy? In any case, I'm doing you a favor. I can help you." I can feel anger bubbling up in me. No no no. Not here. I am not having a hissy fit in this poor lady's office. Push it inside of you, Lilly! "You are very observant, Dr. Enklfir. However, I am quite sure I don't require therapy." I calmly reply. If I can just show her I can stay calm and poised, maybe she'll see I don't need help with keeping my feelings inside. "Lilly, I know that you're keeping your feelings inside. However, I can tell that therapy doesn't teach you how to bottle up your feelings. In therapy, you let all your feelings out so that the feelings are gone. Forever." Is this woman a telepath? Or some sort of mind reader? "Forever is such a long time, isn't it?" I smile gently at here, as if sort of implying, 'You poor darling. As you can see, I am just fine without therapy.' She smiles back. But not a fake smile.
She thinks this is going to be fun.
