Dear Black Girl,

How are you? I hope all is well. Sorry for my last letter. Sometimes I get carried away. This one is gonna be different though. I'm actually here to celebrate you. So congratulations Queen.

First thing I wanna celebrate is your ability to bounce back. They always knock you down but that doesn't stop you from achieving your goal.

I want to celebrate your SKIN. Oh how beautiful it is. How it glisten and shine in the sun like gold. Even on the days you forget to moisturize.

I want to celebrate your SMELL. Weird I know but hear me out. When you use that coconut oil or coco butter lotion that leaves an imprint on people's minds.

I want to celebrate your HAIR. The many styles you come up with to protect it. How it looks when you wake up in the morning when your head scarf falls off. How it looks when it's wet.  I love the braids, weaves, curls, coils, kinks, and yes even the perm.

Black Girl I want to celebrate your STYLE. The same style they "forgot" you made cool. I love own it and walk with confidence when you get those new hoop earrings you wanted or those bomber jackets everyone think is a new trend. I want to celebrate the way your eyes light up when you see something you're passionate about or the way they squint when you laugh.

Dear Black Girl,

I want to celebrate your RHYTHM. Even if you think you don't have any.

I want to celebrate your HEART. The heart that has been broken, betrayed, and stepped on. The heart that, through everything has the ability to light up your entire body.

I want to celebrate your INTELLIGENCE. No matter what that person or report card say, you're a genius.

Before I go Black Girl I want to celebrate the MAGIC your soul possesses.
