As my brother and I walked out of the door, my mom and dad said their final goodbyes and we made our way to school. I dropped Sam (brother) off at his class then scurried to mine before the bell rung. Once in class the teacher started talking about something. I wasn't paying much attention. I received a text from my friend. We were talking about my crush, who sat right next to me. She threatened to tell him that i liked him, i was going to reply back, "Don't u dar-" Then the power went out. It was dark and silent, like this morning in my room. It startled everybody. My phone went black, i started to tap my phone screen multiple times, nothing happened. "It's probably just a power outage." said the teacher. Then we started to resume class like normal. Until we hear this big boom. Something exploded. We all rush out of our seats to the nearest window. Everybody's face went blank; nobody had emotion. Well at least that's what i felt. What we saw, nobody in this room had seen it before. Cars started colliding into each other, like the drivers had no control of the vehicles. Then, we all look up and see a plane; it starts tilting, and came straight down. It crashed just across the street from the high school. Flames tore through the air. We were all shocked. Not knowing what to do next. 'The others hit us with an electromagnetic pulse that killed all the power on the planet. No more engines, no more electricity, no more running water. No more everything we took for granted.' We all got sent home that day. That was the first wave. At the time, we though that was it. Then the second wave hit.
