Alyssa stared up at the clock and then to the chair beside her. Back and forth, back and forth, to the clock ticking and the beautiful boy who never noticed her. She was falling for him and hadn't even realized. But then, she looked behind her at the girl with the hat in skinny jeans. Alyssa found something mysteriously interesting about her but forced herself not to consider the girl hot.
"Hey, I saw you checking that girl out over there Lyss," her bff Cassandra said as she nudged Alyssa with a wink. "What!? No I was not, I'm not, you know." Alyssa stammered as Cassie gave her the extreme "mmmhmm" look. "Gay? You mean you're not gay and you don't have the hots for Nadia back there? Yeah, sure."
"Yes, Cass, I'm not gay." Alyssa said trying to convince Cassie , or maybe herself? She thought about it a little longer and watched as her bestie realized what she was contemplating. Then, she stomped off not turning back.
Truly, inside, Alyssa didn't want to be judged for her sexuality, or more of the fact that she didn't know exactly what it was. I mean it's 2017 and people are still not accepting of the LGBTQ Community. Alyssa thought about Nadia once more. A little fanfiction going on inside of her mind.
'What lies beyond those skinny jeans and that black letter jacket? What is under that pretty hat?' She wondered. Alyssa realized that she had felt a little too turned on by corner girl. But, she didn't forget about the boy she really liked. Drake, the perfect caramel-macchiato a girl could ask for.
He was athletic but sweet. Handsome but not a player. He was a genuine guy who even got stellar grades. Alyssa took a second and stepped into the girls bathroom as she entered a stall and slammed the door with her back against it as she droned on about him in her mind, trying as hard as possible to push corner girl out. But Nadia was too much for her to handle.
She made it to her locker with about three minutes to spare before class and Cassie caught up. "What happened, you had a wet daydream about corner girl. Why don't you just ask her out already?" Cassie asked, to Alyssa, ignorantly. "First of all, I'm not into chicks ok! Second of all even if I was I can tell that she's not. And third of all, if I was it would be against the Bible. Plus, I like Drake, he's really great and I plan to ask him to the Valentine's Day Dance." Alyssa said with a sweet smile full of sucky reassurance.
"Ok, ok. I'll back off but just know, she can out whenever your ready and your sexuality is not something to be ashamed of. Also, Drake doesn't even know you exist." Cassie said seriously as she headed to class with 75 seconds on the clock. Alyssa started to her class and made it just in time. Today was the day they got new class partners. In the Accelerated Math and Science program lied Alyssa and in the Accelerated Reading and Writing program lied Cassie.
As the teacher told everyone to pick a partner, everyone paired off and there were only two unfortunate souls left. Take a guess? Alyssa and Nadia a.k.a. corner girl. "So, how ya been Nadia?" Alyssa asked nervously. "You know, same old same old waiting for the pennies to stop being thrown at me. Freshman year sucked but they still do it to us as Salfmores." She answered.
"So, um Alyssa I have a question for you." "Go ahead, ask away." "Would you like to go to the dance with me?"
"What?! No!" Alyssa said. "Um, are you okay? And, that's not really a yes or no question. Twelfth grade caluculus." Nadia said. "Oh right yeah calculus." Alyssa answered with a sigh of relief.
"Yeah, ok...," Nadia said awkwardly as they both got back to work but you know, separately.
As Alyssa thought back on her little hallucination, she wondered what it would be like to go with a girl, specifically Nadia. I mean, a little fantasy can't be that bad right? She thought about the feel of corner girl's lips on hers. Possibly choking on some tongue. She unknowingly began to close her eyes and bite her lip.
Alyssa caught back up to reality and stopped her sexy little daydream. But then, another one came crashing down on her. Drake, shirtless. She sat on his lap unbucking his belt as he pulled her shirt off. They kissed wildly as she started to smile in real life. She layed on top of hi -- BOOM!
The teacher had slapped a book on the desk and completely ended all fantasies ever to come in that class. Alyssa started to feel worried. She believed in one thing but deep down she knew she truly wanted another. She felt scared of what life had thrown at her and she didn't know what to do.
