Screaming. Smoke. Flashing lights. Noise upon noise upon noise clattered around in her brain.
BEEP! BEEP BEEP! BEEP! BEEP BEEP! BEE-
Mrs. Stark tapped her phone to silence the alarm. She smelled burning. She could hear Mia's shrieks from downstairs. 'Oh my God! This is insane. It's gonna kill us!! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!' she yelled. Her mother rolled out of bed and stumbled down the stairs in a sorry attempt to run and save her little girl.
"Mia, I'm coming!! It's all gonna be okay! Couh, ouk ouck couh." A cloud of smoke had surrounded her, and it was finding its way into her lungs.
"MIA! CHARLIE! I'M COMING TO SAVE YOU!" She thought back to when she got up. Her beloved hubby hadn't been curled up on her left like he usually would be.
"TONY!? WHERE ARE YOU!?" she wailed. She needed to find her family - fast.
She stumbled into the kitchen, where she saw the most haunting thing any parent would be scarred after even thinking about it. Virginia Stark's beautiful six-year-old baby girl was crumpled, lifeless, on the tile floor.
