I had come to the point where this was the only thing I could do, the only way to fix the mess in front of me. The old relic in my family passed down generation to generation. I held the crumpled, old piece of paper in my hand, ever so gently. Scared that if it were to rip, all my hope was lost. My eyes glazed over the rules.

1.  decide the specific demon you want to be summoned into your world

2.  do not enchant spell if words will be pronounced wrongly, proceed with caution

3.  recite the following " etsel mala'kel, test'zel sam'tan'el, itz retz nama'tel, itz hel asta'rel, kama'kala, kama'kala, kama'kala satan'el, ( spirit ) kama, ( spirit ) kala, ( spirit ), kama'kala vel, me maskalla, me solvalla, me res'alla ah'tan'tel "

4. if a certain spirit is not desired, do not give the name of any demon

5. once spirit is summoned, treat with utmost respect

6. do not " command " demon to do any sort of action, as it will just cause anger

7. continue to speak or sign a contract with the demon to do any bidding

8. once finished, if no contract was signed, ask the demon politely to leave your world and recite the incantation again

9. if contract is signed,

there were no words after that. I brought my eyebrows together and tried to scrape at the part where there were supposedly supposed to be words. Why did it not say what to do if a contract is put down?

In the corner of my eye, I saw a black mark on the bottom of the page, right beneath where my thumb was. I removed my fingers from the area, realizing that those were the words that finished the last rule.

My eyes slowly read through the last words on the page, hairs sticking up as I read each word, my stomach turning,

" MAY GOD BE WITH YOU "
