Lindsey's P.O.V.
I wake up and the smell of burning cake fills my nostrils. Mom, I think. She must be trying to bake a birthday cake for me. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it's my birthday. I pull out my phone and call the Publix bakery to order a cake. After I'm finished, I walk downstairs and find mom opening the doors to get the smoke out. "Hey honey," she says to me. "Will you call Publix and order a cake?" "Already did mom." I tell her. "Good." she says.

"Thanks for the presents and a great birthday." I tell mom. "Imma go get the mail." I walk down the driveway and see an official looking letter addressed to me. I open it and read it. Then, I run inside and ask mom, "Mom, am I adopted?" She sighs. "Yes honey, I was going to tell you. The special birthday present was a ticket to LA to see your brother. His name id Jason." she tells me, worry in her eyes. "Thanks mom, I really appreciate you telling me. And the ticket to LA? Wow I better start packing!" I say excitedly. Irun upstairs and start. Was I shocked she hadn't told me earlier? Yes. Mad? Yes. Excited? Definitely. I was ready

The intercom dings and tells us we will be landing soon. "Thanks." I mumble. I unplug my head phones and slip on my shoes. After we get off the plane I go to baggage claim and grab my purple suitcase. Then, I go and sit down at Dunkin' Donuts. I pull out my phone and text Jason. WE had been texting for a while because the letter gave me his phone number. He seemed SO cool. I told Jason where I was waiting and soon enough he walked through the doors and sat down.
