"Checkmate, Peter."
Daniel's voice was thick and velvety, oozing out in a soft deep tone, perturbing the victim as a snake's hiss to it's prey. He moved his queen diagonally four spaces, easily entrapping Peter's king with his rook, pawn and now present queen.
Peter gulped and stared down at the board in fear.
"It was quite wonderful playing with you..." Said Daniel tauntingly and slow as the man started crying.
"Please, anything! I'll give you my money! Just please don't hurt my children!" He begged, his fingers clasping the edge of the table as Hamish tugged him out of his chair.
Daniel sat quietly, staring complacently as Peter begged frantically as he was dragged away into a back room.
"It's interesting, isn't it?" Daniel said, chuckling slightly as he set the chess board back up.
"What is?" Hamish asked as he closed the rusted steel door behind him and walked back to the small table at which Daniel sat.
Screams of terror could be heard from the room where Hamish just left. Kit had no doubt taken matters into his own hands.
"I find it interesting how humans always beg when they're dragged away. It doesn't make any sense."
"I believe it's an emotion you cannot express, Daniel." Hamish said quietly, helping place the last few black pieces in order.
Daniel sat back and admired his chess set.
"God, I'm bored again."
"You're always bored, aren't you?"
"Well what am I to do now? You don't like playing chess with me and Kit is too busy getting off to even think about how I feel."
"Daniel, you're constantly bored. Why don't you get yourself a girlfriend, or a boyfriend?"
A drilling sound erupted in the backroom, followed shortly by a shriek of horror and an unexpected eruption of high pitched laughter.
"Ugh, no thank you. I hate socializing. I doubt I'd find anyone to match my tactical genius anyway."
"You've always had quite the pompous ego."
"Have I?"
Hamish shook his head with a small smile and the steel door opened again. All noises had stopped from the room, leaving them to assume that Peter was dead.
Kit, covered in another man's blood, walked over to his boyfriend and placed a kiss on his lips. "Would you like to join me in the shower?" He asked Hamish.
"Sure." Hamish said earnestly, giving him another quick kiss. Kit's white button-up shirt was almost entirely stained red and his black hair was darker than normal, some of the crimson dripping down from his hairline and onto his face.
"Think about what I said, Daniel. We'll be back." Hamish said, following his boyfriend up the wooden stairs.
Daniel sat quietly as he listened to the shower water run. He sighed, grabbing his gun from his back pocket and admiring it.
He stood and placed it in his back pocket once again, finally deciding on what would distract him from his boredom for a while.
He started towards the door, remembering to grab the keys off the chess table before he left.
