I hop into the passenger seat of Mike’s truck as he turns on the ignition. The truck purrs to life and he speeds out of his driveway and onto the highway. "Where are we going?" I ask for the umpteenth time. "Well since your always so uptight, I thought we could loosen you up tonight." He says and gives me a wink and his signature smirk. I giggle, "That, I think is highly impossible, just ask my best friend Tiffany. She’s the craziest person I’ve ever met and she can’t even get me to loosen up." I say with finality. "He looks over at me and smiles, "I might just be crazier."
As we pull into a parking spot at the downtown bar that I’ve heard crazy stories about from Tiffany- as I have never been in the bar, Mike turns to face me. "You know, your friend Tiffany sounds like someone that I'd like, why don't you call her? That way you can have fun with two crazies." He says with another smile. I like his smile more then his smirk. "Um, you really don't want to do that." I say, thinking of how crazy Tiff can get. "Do it" He insists, his eyes full of an excitement I have never seen before. "Okay." I reply, pulling out my phone and dialing her number. "You really don't know what you’re getting us into." I mutter, his smile just gets wider.
"HALLOOOO" Tiffany’s voice comes through my phone. I wince and hold the phone at arms length "Hey Tiff I'm about to-" I stop talking when Mike grabs the phone from my hand and holds it to his ear. "Hi, this must be Tiffany, I'm Mike, one of Isabella’s clients... And friends." He says looking over at me with another smirk. I hear her scream through the phone. "Anyway we are at The Masquerade, and we would like you to come join us." Mike says, like he already knows what her response will be. I hear her say something, but I cant quite hear it. Evidently she’s on her way, because Mike hangs up and hands me my phone. "Let’s go inside" He says and gets out of his car.
As soon as I step out of his car the base from the music is already pounding in my chest. I follow Mike up to the long line and I start to walk all the way to the back, but Mike stops me. "Where do you think your going?" He asks. "It pays to be a Langley." Is all he says. He grabs my hand, which tingles as soon as our fingers touch and he drags me to the front of the line, right up to the bouncer. "Hey Pete" Mike says to the bouncer with a smile. "Mike! What’s up man? And who's the lady?" Pete says looking me up and down, Pete whistles. "None of your business" Mike replies jokingly. "Listen we have another friend named Tiffany who should be arriving any minute now, let her in right away, got it?" Mike says to Pete. "Roger that man" Pete replies and steps sideways to let us enter the bar.
The smell of alcohol and sweat overwhelms my nose. Talk Dirty by Jason Derulo is blasting out of loud speakers all over the room. There are booths on all sides of the room with the bar near the front. In the middle of the room is a huge square platform where people are dancing and grinding up onto one another. "Follow me" Mike says as he starts walking towards an empty booth, weaving through the crowds of people. Once we both get to the booth Mike and I both sit down and a waitress comes right over. She smiles seductively at Mike, barely giving me a glance. "What can I get you" she says seductively, her voice coming out silky smooth. "4 rounds of shots" he answers looking back over at me. She nods, slightly baffled that he didn't even give her a glance and walks away.
After the waitress moved out of my line of sight, I saw Tiffany walk into the bar. I wave at her and she sees me, walking over. "I don't know how you did it." She says to Mike as she sits down next to me, "Did what?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrow at her bewildered expression. "Got this girl into a bar. Didn't you know that she’s a bar virgin?" Tiff asks innocently (but I know the devil inside her is laughing). Mike starts to laugh. "Hardy har har, yes yes its sooo funny." I say sarcastically, looking at them both. Then Tiffany sees me, her eyes go wide in horror. "What the hell are you wearing your work cloths for?" She cries. "I... I... I look fine don’t I?" I ask, looking down self consciously. "Ugg!" She groans, while grabbing my hand and pulling me from the booth. I turn and give Mike the death glare, but all he does is smile. The bastard...
