Wendy's POV

I stood mesmerized watching the colorful teacups spin around and around. Occasionally I spot Peter's red hair whirl across my vision. How stupid am I? Did I really think some guy would come and sweep me off into this happily ever after? That's not how it works. I thought I had learned that.

I snap out of my trance as I hear the music die down as the ride screeches to a halt. People immediately start pouring out of the exit. My mind reels as I plan my next move. I'm still in shock as I see a familiar red haired mess come through the crowd.

"Crap!" I say panicking. I'm about to turn and hide when a familiar voice rings out.

"Wendy!" Peter says as he pushes through the crowd and pulling the girl with him.

As they get closer I examine her. She really is gorgeous. Her olive skin and straight, raven hair pair well together. She doesn't look much older than me.

Peter reaches me and his eyes flash with worry. "Wendy, are you alright? you look like you've seen a ghost."

I had almost completely forgotten about the incident with James. "Yeah I think I'm okay."

Peter nods and then turns like he suddenly remembers the girl. "Oh right! Wendy I'd like you to meet a friend of mine. This is Lilly." he says gesturing his hand towards her.

Right, "friend". "It's nice to meet you" I say trying to be as polite as possible.

Lilly nods, her chocolate eyes locking on me. I feel her looking me up and down. I take in her tan strapless dress. the top is ruffled and is tied with a woven brown belt around her waist.

"So, are you two together or...." I trail off awkwardly.

Peter shakes his head frantically "Oh no no no! We're just really good friends. I've known Lilly since I started with Mr. Xavier. She's been my friend since I walked in this park." he says slinging an arm around her shoulder.

I can't help but suppress the giggle that rises at the look she gave him when he mentioned "friend".

Lilly taps her sandal clad foot impatiently at Peter.

"So is everything fine now?" Peter asked Lilly and she nodded her head. "Is there anything else you need me to do before I go?"

Lilly thought for a second and then reached on her toes to meet Peter's ear. I don't know what she whispered but Peter's eyes widened a bit, his ears reddened a bit and he had a coughing fit over her words.

"O-okay. I-I'll try." Peter stuttered clearly off guard. Lilly waved goodbye and pranced off.

"What was that about?"

Peter snapped out of it "Oh it was

nothing."

"So she doesn't talk? Is she shy or does she just not like me?"

"Oh it's not that she doesn't like you, but she doesn't just talk to anyone. It's just a thing she does, I'm used to it."

"What was so important that you ran off like that?" I cross my arms

"Lilly gets into these predicaments sometimes and it's my responsibility to take care of it. It's complicated."

"Okay then." I say annoyance clear in my voice.

Peter's eyebrows crease as he looks me over. He smiles at me and extends an arm to me. "Shall we be on our way Ms. Darling?"

I smile and take his arm in mine.

"We shall."
