Prologue
Wyatt Taylor is a little boy who goes on an adventure with a mysterious but uplifting spirit that most of the townsfolk call, "The Daisy Girl".
Chapter One:
The little town of Dawson is very quiet. Not many newcomers pass through here but when they do the whole town explodes with excitement. Wyatt Taylor moved to Dawson when he was a baby and he is now nine. Wyatt knows everybody in town except one, "The Daisy Girl".
I walked into the library and saw Mrs. Blant, the librarian.
"Hello sweetheart," she said cheerfully.
"Good morning Mrs. Blant," I returned.
"Are you looking for a book and if so what about?" she asked.
"A few years after I moved here, I heard a story about 'The Daisy Girl' and wanted to know more about it, so do you have any books about her?"
"I don't know, but you can check over in that section," she told me and pointed to the back right corner of the library.I sifted through almost all of the books until I found one that had daisies on the back of it. I turned it over and it read "The Daisy Girl" in big cursive letters. I started reading. "The Daisy Girl" is an old urban legend from the little town of Dawson, Arkansas. She is said to be wearing a white, knee length dress that flows, even if there isn't any wind. Her brown hair falls down her back. She has beautiful grey eyes and soft pink lips. She was said to have been killed by her father, but many people thought it wasn't true. He died of cancer two years later. The nickname "Daisy Girl" was given to her by an old woman that believed she saw the spirit and it had left her a daisy on her doorstep. Everyone, who had supposedly seen her, has received one mysteriously as well.
I walked home to find my mother and father in the kitchen. My mother was setting the table and my father talking about his day at work. My father works in an old pawn shop. Normally his customers aren't very mean but there is a new one who is. I sat down at the table and told about what I had found at the library.
"Hey, guess what I found at the library today?"
"What is it, hun?"
"It's a book on that girl you told me about," I say while handing the book to my father.
"Really? You found this in the library?" my father asked.
"Yessiree! I wanna read it all," I said with joy.
"Wyatt, by the time you're finished with your supper it'll be bedtime," my mother warned,"You can read it tomorrow, okay."
"Okay, Mama."After supper I went up to my room and got into my night clothes. My mother and father said goodnight and went to bed themselves. As soon as my door shut I hopped out of bed and walked to my window. I watched the moon and the stars until I saw a shooting star. I wished upon it. Then in the meadow across the way I saw a girl walking. Her dress illuminated from the moonlight and it flowed like a river, but there wasn't a gust of wind blowing. Suddenly she turned and looked directly at me. I quickly hid behind the drapes and when I looked back she was gone.
