It is the middle of August and school will be starting in a couple of weeks. I didn't really do anything exciting all summer. My grandparents visited a couple of times. I baked sweets with my grandma and went fishing with my father and grandpa, but that was it. I wish we had traveled more. I've always dreamed of traveling the world and experiencing what it's like in other places.
After I had eaten my lunch I decided to go for a walk with my friend, Jacob. Jacob and I have known each other ever since we were three years old. He is very generous and I like having him around when nobody else is.
"Hey, where were you yesterday?" Jacob asked. "I walked to your house and asked for you but your mother said that you weren't home."
"Sorry. I was at the library. I found this book called 'The Daisy Girl', and I was just finishing the last chapter." I explained.
"I've heard of her before but my parents say that only stupid folk believe in 'ghosts'."I couldn't believe that Jacob's parents think that but I couldn't blame them. It is a bit strange that a transparent being wanders around in the meadow. Honestly I wouldn't call people stupid for believing in it but I know for sure that she exists.
"Have you ever seen her?" my curiosity grew.
"No. I don't believe that she's out there."
"She is. I've seen her. She looked right at me from the meadow outside my window." I burst out.
"It's getting late. My ma will want me home for supper. Goodbye!" Jacob waved.
"Bye!" I returned and began to walk home. When I walked inside and walked upstairs I found my parents arguing. I always hated it when they fought. It made me think that they didn't love each other. Or even love me for that matter. I leaned against the door and listened.
"You promised me that you would never do that again!" my father screamed.
"I'm sorry! You were gone and I felt alone!" Mother fell to the floor crying.
"What about Wyatt, OUR son? What are you gonna tell him?! Actually don't say anything. I'm leaving with him in the morning!" Father claimed. What was it? What did mother do? I began to cry then I fell asleep. Later that night I woke up. It must've been almost midnight. I could still taste the salty tears on my lips. I heard a noise outside. At first it sounded like thunder so I looked out but it stopped. All I could see was that girl again and she was looking at me. She waved and smiled. I jumped into my slippers and walked downstairs, being extra quiet. My dad was sleeping in the chair in the sitting room. I quietly opened the front door. I ran to the meadow and followed the girl. As she walked it seemed as if little stars were following her. As I got to the edge of the woods I hesitated. I had always hated the woods because I had heard stories about the "Boogie Man" and other beast like creatures. The girl finally spoke.
"Don't be afraid. The darkness won't hurt you. Besides, I'm here to guide you. There is a special place that I want to show you." she said in a sweet and innocent tone as she held out her hand.
I just nodded and took her hand. Then after several minutes of running through the twisted branches and crunchy leaves, we arrived.
