Caroline's POV
It was Founder's Day and I could not have been more excited. Today was one of those days where everyone just stood back and let me be Caroline Forbes the control freak, and I loved it. I still needed to arrange a couple of things so I texted Tyler to come pick me up so he could drive me into town. While I was waiting I heard a *ding* and checked my phone. The text was from my mom, the sheriff, warning me there was vampire drama about to go down.
I sighed and rolled my eyes. Ugh. I was sure this had something to do with those irritating Salvatores. I replied and asked her what was going on. Then she asked if we could talk about it in person. I thought it was strange but I pushed it to the back of my mind as Tyler's car pulled up, the shiny paint reflecting rays of light directly into my eyes. I walked over with an arm in front of my face and got in.
'You ready?' Ty asked and I nodded quickly. I was ready for today. But a small voice in the back of my mind couldn't help but wonder if I was ready for what my mom was going to talk to me about.
I didn't realise I had been silent for the entire journey until I caught Tyler watching me with a worried look on his face. I sighed and turned to face him. 'Ty, I'm a little worried about something..' I mumbled and looked into his eyes. I startled because he wasn't looking at me. Or at the road. He was looking upwards. I leaned forward to try and see what was going on. 'Ty?' I asked, my voice wavering with fear. 'Get out of here, Caroline!' he yelled. 'No, Tyler, tell me what is happening' I yelled, shaking his shoulders.
Then I saw it. Or maybe who. It was impossible to see but the dark shape hurtling downwards straight towards the car did not look friendly. We wouldn't have time to get out of the car before we collided with it so I just grabbed Tyler's hand as quickly as I could. A moment of complete silence. Then I felt and heard the windscreen glass explode and the roof of the car compress me down until I felt nor heard nothing.
