Half-breed. Disease. Outcast. Disgrace. Just a few of the many things my so called "friends" called me. I was having a nightmare of the time I ran away from "home."
When I woke up, I immediately got to my feet. I thought about what I went through at that time, and felt my pointed ears, and the giant scar that went from above my right eyebrow down to below my cheekbone, yet my eye was fine. I stroked back my long platinum hair, and looked around, even though it was so dark you could barely see.
My armor had frost on it, but my vest was keeping my body heat inside. My armor had parts from all over the world, and different eras. A European half plate and pauldrons, an Elven cloak, Greek vambraces with plating over the top, and Roman style boots with plating on the shins. All stained jet black with a dull gold trim.
I waited in silence, not moving a muscle. There were reports of a large monster in this area. I waited until dawn. Once it was light enough to see, I searched the area for herbs and berries. Once I found enough for a meal, the sun was fully visible. I followed my footprints back to my things, making sure that I didn't leave evidence of going back.
When I finished eating, I picked up my things. Well, one thing, actually. A sword that only I could use, due to its structure and nature. No one knows its true name, only that it was used by powerful beings that roamed the earth long before humans and even elves came into existence. It had a massive single edged blade that was shattered, yet held together by magic. Since I had a slight amount of demon blood (more like demon's venom) in my veins as well, I had inhuman strength, which allowed me to wield this beast of a weapon with amazing ease.
I made my way back to the semi-well beaten path, and tried to decide which way went to a settlement. Most of the footprints headed south, but I saw a slight amount of smoke coming from the north. That meant...
"An attack!" I realised. I normally have a lot of speed, strength and stamina, so I ran to the settlement as the smoke increased. But I ran into a problem...
As I reached the bridge to the village, I saw that a blockade of boulders had smashed the bridge to splinters. I kept running, and jumped from boulder to boulder to cross the gap.
Suddenly, as I reached the last boulder, it rolled out from under me. I fell, cracking my jaw slightly on what was left of the bridge, and into the water. Thank the gods it wasn't that deep.
Growling, I got up, jumped onto a giant stone hand, and back onto solid ground. Then I realized, A hand? You gotta be kidding me...
I looked back to see a huge, crude stone hammer about to slam into the left side of my upper body, and I twisted to evade it. There was a permanent scratch on my armor, and that got me fuming. I backed up, pulling out my blade from the hook on the back of my armor.
I finally had a full view of this giant golem. The monster was real. It was at least twenty feet high, armspan twice that again. Even though this thing could wrestle a dragon with its bare hands, the hammer it had was as as big as the golem itself.
The golem had a loud, growling voice that sounded like rocks grinding into one another. "AH, ANOTHER TRAVELLER WHO THINKS HE CAN SAVE THIS VILLAGE... BUT YOU'RE TOO LATE! NOW DIE AND GIVE ME YOUR SOUL!!"
I got ready to fight. The golem swung its hammer at my head. I ducked under the blow, and charged for thing's weak spot, a small opening in the chest. It seemed to know I would go after this, and kicked me like a ball. I saw the world spinning like a top as I went flying backwards. When I hit the ground, I hit my head hard. My ribs were nearly shattered from the blow, and my conscience threatened to pass out, but I fought the pain and held on.
When the giant saw me on the ground, It yelled, "FOOL! NO ONE CAN STOP ME!!" and charged, hammer poised to strike. I realized his chest was opened up. I quickly rolled over, grabbed my blade, and with adrenaline pumping, I threw the blade at my enemy.
The roar the thing gave out literally sent me sliding away, hitting my head on a rock, again. I saw the thing still trying to reach me, but it was slowly falling apart. By the time the golem reached me, it was nothing but a pile of pebbles.
Then, everything went black.
