I'm in a rainforest. Lush flowers and towering trees are everywhere, most of them I've never seen before . In front of me, a blue eyed boy with dirty blonde, shoulder length hair looks around, then focuses on me with a panicked expression.
"Stay down, it's coming this way!"I'm somewhere new now. Inside. There is little light in this large room, and in the corner, a gaping hole has been made, with creeping ivy and flowers surrounding it. Now, I can see a taller boy, with dark hair and eyes. He runs towards me.
"Rowan, give me your hand!"The top of a bubbling volcano, in the mountains. Lava spits, and lights up the night sky. A man stands alone. He wears an expensive looking suit, and has a clear evil glint in his eye, like he has a plan, like he knows something important.
"You don't understand, do you? Of course not. But you will... in time."***
I'm jolted awake by the plane. My eyes adjust to the sudden brightness, and I look around. On the seat beside me, my best friend Diego shoots me a grin.
"Morning sleepyhead." he says playfully.
"I'm not still dreaming, right?" I reply.
"It doesn't feel real, does it? But we're finally on our way!"
I smile to myself. We're about to land on the island of La Huerta, for a week filled with fun! The chatter of the ten other contest winners from our school fills the small plane. I don't know anyone else, aside from Diego, but I'm looking forward to meeting new people.
"One magical week in paradise, here we come!"
"All expenses paid, what whaaaat?"
"Good thing too. I'm so deep in student debt right now, I can't even afford instant ramen!"
Diego looks at me with a concerned look on his face. He asks if I'm ok, and whether I just had a bad dream.
"Not bad as such, just really weird." I tell him.
"I dreamt about.... about him!"
I instantly recognise the tall dark haired boy from my dream walking down the aisle between the seats.
"You had a dream about Sean Gayle? Well what are you waiting for? Go talk to him!"
Diego pushes me out of my seat, onto the aisle, just as Sean passes, leading to me bumping into him. My cheeks flush pink. Why does Diego have to be so annoying? I mean he's my best friend, but sometimes I feel the urge to bury him in a hole and never see him again.
"Whoa, hello there!" Sean says to me. I'm quite a bit shorter than him, so he has to look down. From next to us, Diego chips in, informing Sean that I have something to tell him.
"Oh.. Uhh... I had a dream about you!" I say. Ah why did I say that? I just made myself sound pretty stupid. Way to go Rowan, great first impression.
"Is that so? A good one I hope."
"It was actually pretty terrifying.. Oh, not because of you, it's just--"
"Don't worry, I'll take it as a compliment anyway." Sean smiles at me as he heads off down the aisle to his seat. Ok that could have gone worse I guess...
It suddenly becomes a lot worse when Diego, laughing, tells me that he got the whole thing on video.***
About 30 minutes after my embarrassing first encounter with Sean, Diego checks his watch and turns to me.
"Huh, that's weird, it's 5:15 already. We should've landed an hour ago... and it didn't feel like you'd been snoring for that long!"
"Hilarious. I'll go check with the pilot to see if anything's wrong."
I'd been sat down for too long. Stretching my legs seemed like a good idea, so I stood up and headed for the front of the plane. As I pass, I can hear the other students talking loudly.
A serious looking boy, with pale skin and folded arms was trying to get everybody's attention.
"Excuse me, would you all please cease your babbling. The tour guide is trying to speak!"
A girl wearing a bright yellow shirt, supposedly the tour guide, then spoke up.
"Thank you Aleister! As your tour guide for the week, I would just like to say that we should... You know, try to be friends! It is an island after all, so you're kind of stuck with each other. Hee hee!"
The chirpy tour guide then sat back down. Her name was Lila, at least that's what it said on her badge.
"Is it too late to jump out of the plane?" a girl with a pink and black fringe and multiple piercings asked.

So hello! I hope you've enjoyed this story so far... I'd just like to say that the whole storyline, characters and everything else is NOT MY IDEA. It comes from an app by Pixelberry called Choices, and I highly recommended it. All I'm doing here is writing out the story in book form, because I enjoy wring but never have any ideas, and I love Endless Summer.
Thanks for reading!
