"How many times do I have to tell you, the white goes to the left, and gold to the right, get it together people!" I heard Emily yell from the farside of the gym. What a drama queen. Always having to be in control of everything.
"Damn it Karla, I said Champagne Gold! Not Lilac Gold! Do you listen?" She yelled again, slinging the bag of glitter across the gym and sending the girl out the door to get a new color. I felt bad for anyone who was a victim of Emily's abuse, especially if I witnessed it.
"What's up with Em?" I asked my best mate Kyle. He returns the question with a wave of the hand and puts his attention back towards his phone. I watch as people scramble across the gym to get out the way as Emily walks towards us and waves. I wave back and look at kyle who still has his face glued to his phone screen and sigh. Oh boy, I'm gonna have to deal with her myself.
"There's my two favorite boys" Emily said, running her hand through my hair. I worked hard on my hair this morning for nothing!?
"Will you guys pretty please help me hang up the banners around school?" She asked pouting and and exchanged her glances between me and Kyle.
"I guess Em, but you gotta stop yelling at these freshmen. They haven't done anything to you" I stated before getting up and grabbing a couple of banners off the table. "Oh and good luck getting him away from his phone" I told emily before I headed out towards the football field.
"Oh I will" She said, walking closer to Kyle
The first place I went to hang up a banner was the fence in front of the bleachers.
" How the hell am I supposed to hang these up" I asked myself, holding up on of the banners corners to the fence. I already walked the whole field to get to the fences and i was not going to walk back to get string.
"Who needs a banner over here anyways. It's not like anybody pays attention to the fence during the game" grabbing the rest of the banners, I looked towards the bleachers and saw movement.
"Who's there?" I Shouted towards the seats, walking towards the entrance to go towards the parking lot. "I said who's there" I asked again, standing in the entrance of the tunnel that goes under the bleachers.
"It's no one you would care of" A weak voice answered back. I shrugged it off and started to walk back to the gym
"Wait." The voice called. I stopped and turned around
"Apparently I wouldn't care about you so what do you want" I snapped back, combing my fingers through my hair and dropping it back to my side. I watched as someone stepped from the other side of the bleachers into my view.
"Because i'm new and lost." they said folding there arms across there chest and looking at me. No wonder i haven't seen her before
"Transfer or Exchange?" i asked, trying to seem like i actually did care, when i didn't.
"Exchange. I'm here from Bristol England" I just asked if she was a transfer or exchange, not her life story.
“Cool. Well umm, parking lots right there. See you tomorrow. Bye” I quickly waved and started off again before she called for me.
“I know where the parking lot is, I need to get to the gym” She stated, walking from the shadows and out into the evening sun. She wasn’t all that bad. Her eyes were nice too.
“Oh well then follow me, that’s where I’m headed” I wrapped up the banners in my arms and headed back towards the gym. “On Second thought, You’re here to help out set up the dance right?” she nodded and gave me a questioning look.
“Great! I can’t go back in there with all these banners so want to help me hang up a few?” She shrugged and held out her hand for me to give her one. “Oh and they don’t have any strings so we’ll have to tuck it in the fence or something” I told her before she took one. She nodded and went to the fence. She held up one corner and put it on the spikes there were on top of the fence.
“Didn’t you hear me? We have to tuck, we have no string” I walked over to here and started to take it away when she pushed straight down on the spike with the corner of the banner and made a hole straight through.
“There, now one side is hung” She smiled and walked to the other corner and did the same thing. “Well there’s one hung. Let’s go do the rest shall we?” She gestured towards the bundle in my hands and took off in the other direction
“So we think were smart now huh” I said to myself, watching her stop at one of the goal post and motioning for me to come over. Just what this school needs. I girl who knows what she’s doing.
