Sylvia POV
Beep Beep Beep!! My alarm screams in my ear as I turn around and smash the top of it causing it to fall off of my bedside table. Could my week get any worse.
"Syl!" My Dad shouts up the stairs "breakfast is here, hurry up or you'll be late to school!" I sit up in bed and rub my eyes remembering that I broke my glasses yesterday and can't get a new pair till next week. "Looks like I'll be wearing those contacts Jess bought me" I mutter to myself as I stand and manoeuvre my way around my bedroom. Blind.
Getting to the en suite door I push it open and grab the contacts from the bottom drawer in the bathroom.
"C'mon, Syl, they're just contacts you're not gonna look any different"

Twenty minutes later and they're in and I've managed to sort of tame my hair with a side plait. My face is simple and neutral with just a bit of eyeliner and mascara. I walk back into my bedroom and pick out a grey tank top and a black and red flannel shirt to go over it obviously unbuttoned. I rummage around in the drawers and find my ripped grey jeans and pull them on. As I walk out the door I grab my side bag and ugg boots and walk down the stairs.
"There she is" Dad says smiling and embracing me into a bear hug "Birthday girl" he says with happiness in his voice. "Seventeen. Big number. Getting old. Is that grey hair I see" he probes my head as he pulls at a strand of my hair.
"Oh no Dad. Save me" I say sarcasticly dodging around him before he can pull out the hair, not caring I tuck it back in and grab a slice of toast off the plate on the counter. I hear the distant beep of a car horn and know that it's Jess. "See ya Dad" I say and give him a quick hug and run out the door, down the drive to Jess' obnoxiously crimson red Mini Cooper.
"Hey" she says as I slide in and dump my bag on the floor. "To school" I say punching my fist into the air "yes sir" she says as she speeds off.
"So, Birthday Girl, want your gift?" I look at her with annoyance but my face can't help but show sisterly love "I told you not to get anything" I said sternly as she shot back "since when do I listen to you? Nice contacts by the way. They the ones I bought you?" I hum to her in agreement as my finger twitches over the radio nob trying to find the indie rock channel.

At a red light Jess hands me a slim box with a smile. I read the tag "You'll booking love it ; )" I glance at her as I rip open the paper and open the box with care. I felt my jaw hit the floor. It was a bracelet with a book charm and a glasses charm on it. It was beautiful. "Jess..." I say shock coating my voice. I give her a sideways hug "Thank you" I say as she smiles at me then looks back at the road at The green light and speeds away. The bracelet fits on my wrist perfectly and just as I clasp it Jess pulls into a parking space outside of school. I have a feeling today will be alright.

A/N - This is very short I know but lately I have really fallen back in love with writing and can't wait to get some more chapters finished.
