Drew couldn't think of anything he disliked more than school, but he knew that above all he hated the last day the most. No one wanted to be there and nothing was taught. It was just a humongous waste of time and he absolutely despised it. He was only there because his mom forced him to go.
He sat in his last class of the day, listening to music and watching the people around him talk to their friends and take selfies. Drew had always kept to himself because in his eyes he didn't need many friends. Having friends only opened opportunities for drama, which he also hated. The bell rang loudly, causing him to lose his train of thought. He didn't mind though, he was happy to finally be released from the hell hole called high school. He quickly stood up and left the class. Once outside he took his jacket off and held it on his arm, starting the journey back to his house. He didn't like the more humid months of the year because he wanted to keep his jacket on. Drew had always preferred everything cold, much like his personality. He was a lone wolf and had been his entire life, only ever having one friend. Her name was Lilly and he met her in elementary school when he used to get bullied badly. She would stick up for him even though she didn't know him. He smiled to himself as he remembered the way she had helped him up after Todd pushed him down.
His train of thought was once again interrupted as Lilly ran up to him, jumping on his back as he walked. He laughed and grabbed her legs, keeping her from sliding off of his back.
"I see that you have once again stalked me after I left class," he chuckled, keeping the same pace as he walked home with Lilly on his back.
"I don't stalk you, you are just easy to find. After all, you always look like someone kicked your puppy," she replied, resting her head on his as he continued to walk.
"If you say so," he stopped as he reached a fork in the road. "Anyways, do you want to go to my house or yours," he asked, craning his head as if to look at her.
"My mom's not there so your house because I'm locked out," she confirmed, fixing her position on his back to be more comfortable.
"Don't you have a key to the house for this kind of situation?" He began walking the left path, headed to his house.
"Well, I might have left it on the counter," she chuckled nervously, holding onto him as they continued on.
"What about the key under the welcome mat?"
"That's the one I was using because I dropped the first one in a drain on the side of the street," she huffed, moving her head to rest on his shoulder as he unlocked the door and walked into his house.
"You are the first person I'd go to if I want something hidden where no one will find it because you'll just lose it and even you won't know where it is," he joked, closing the door behind him as Lilly slid off of his back. She walked into the kitchen and got herself a snack.
"You say that, but I could lose it at school or something and then your secret would be exposed," she pointed out as she opened a bag of chips and ate a few.
"That is very true," he said as he sat on the couch, turning the TV and Xbox 1 on. Lilly walked into the living room and sat next to him on the couch, eating her chips and watching as he started a download for a new zombie game on the Xbox 1. She knew that by the end of the week she would see him play it at least once.
She finished off her bag of chips and got up to throw the bag away, "You're so boring sometimes Drew."
"I'm not boring, you just don't like the same stuff as me." he clarified, setting up a zombies match on Black Ops 3. He handed her a controller and started the game as she sat back down on the couch next to him. She smiled and ran to a window once the game started, shooting zombies from where she was. They laughed and shot zombies, running around to find what they needed. They lasted about 15 rounds before they both died and the match ended.
"Good game bitch face," she laughed, elbowing him gently in the arm.
He chuckled, elbowing her back. "Yeah, you lasted longer than I expected shithead."
"What do you want to do now?" she asked, relaxing and leaning on Drew. He shrugged and closed his eyes, relaxing and letting her lean on him. She laughed quietly and stayed where she was, thinking about whatever came to her mind. Drew had always been like her brother, ever since they became friends in elementary school. She helped him with the bullies and he grew stronger as they got older from the constant piggyback rides he gave her. When her parents split up he was there for her and when his dad passed away she was there for him. They were so close that people at school would often ask if they were boyfriend and girlfriend. They'd always laugh and say no. Lilly could feel herself slowly falling asleep and decided to just stay there and take a nap. She shifted a bit, getting comfortable before falling asleep on Drew.
