I woke up to the soft patter of rain by my window. I shifted my head to the side, to view the clock reading "6:27 AM; March 1." Stretching out my arms, I lifted the sheets off my cool body and got off the bed. I walked to the bathroom and grabbed my toothbrush, beginning to brush. After I washed my face and went to the kitchen to make my breakfast. Cereal and milk. I went back into my room to change into my uniform and I left to go to work. I worked at an office to sort out files. Seemed like a boring job. We weren't allowed to view what we were sorting out, just sifting through digital files and sorting them out into folders for everyone who lived here, and there was always three folders. Origin, Recollection, and Category. It seemed strange. But no one put any thought to it. It was a daily thing, and nobody thought of doing otherwise.

I arrived at work, a large center that seemed almost colossal, as a large majority of the people here work at this job. I walked in, scanned my ID Card, and began to head to my office room. I passed by the training room, where people learned how to do this work. The loud speakers blasted the uniform speech of the presentation. "Welcome to the Centre! The basics of this career are to help make the world more efficient and organized. There are three essential factors in this work.. The Origin, Recollection, and the Category... These three terms refer to a being's birthgiver information... their inner thoughts, and their state of being..." Suddenly, someone next to me began to shout in misery, "What am I doing here?" She collapsed to the floor and clear liquid began to flow from her eyes. My heart rate began to rise, and my breathing hastened. What is she doing? I was terrified, what was she doing? People around me began to react similarly, causing a wave of panic within the area she was in. The woman looked up to me, and I froze. She lunged towards me and grabbing me by the hand, led me outside of the building, not allowing me to even keep up. I tripped, and collapsed, dragging her down to the cold and wet concrete of the entrance of my work. "What the hell do you want? Leave me alone!" I felt my vision blurring. I was bewildered, I didn't recognize any of her actions and motions, she felt like a monster. Taking deep breaths, I once again looked up to this woman.
"You.. you realize we're all being tricked.." she panted, her violent nature slowly fading away.

"I'm sorry, I really am." She began. "Can.. can I explain what's going on to you away from all these people? I'll explain that as well."

I had no idea whether or not I should've complied with her, but before I opened my mouth we were up and running again, and once again I was on the verge of tripping once again. We ran past the large building that I knew as my work, and soon I lost my sense of direction. I didn't know where this was. Then, she abruptly stopped, turning around to grab my by the shoulders.

"Look, my name is Jade." She stopped to pant heavily, clearly out of breath. "I don't know what happened, but I think something's wrong."

Confused, I pushed her hands away from me.

"What do you mean? What is wrong? There's nothing wrong with anything, you just started yelling all of the sudden and, what was happening when water was coming out of your ey-"

"That's the problem! Have you ever thought about these things, why we are all so uniform and boring? Something's wrong, I don't know. I just suddenly broke down and all these thoughts came to my head." Jade stopped and wiped her eyes.

"Are you saying... we aren't supposed to be like this?" I curiously asked.

"I mean, that's what I'm thinking. Ever since yesterday, I was doing what I normally do, and then these thoughts just came to my head.. And this morning I was overwhelmed with all these subjective thoughts about the way we're living. One of the thoughts that I had was that we're not supposed to be uniform, and that we never interact with anyone, and here we are doing exactly just that. We're not the same as all the other people anymore, we're supposed to be sorting out some stupid files at work."

I groaned in frustration. "Honestly, I don't want to comprehend all this.. But I suppose it's worth trying to figure out. Also, where are we... exactly?"

Jade laughed nervously. "To be frank, I don't really know myself, all I know is that it's away from that area we've been living in. I guess we're in the outskirts of the city."

Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. "Hey.. so how about we try to get someone else to tell them about all this? This is so strange, I don't wanna go through all this with just us." I began to walk back towards the area we came from.

"I guess that's fine.. Ah, wait!" I turned around. "What's your name?"

My name. Wait, do I know what my name is? Yes, yes I do.. Its..

"I'm Ivy. Now, I'm pretty positive you don't want to go back into the city.. Even though we're all supposedly uniform I'm not sure something won't happen. I'll try to find someone to get on our side I suppose. See you at the same place 10 before midnight."

"Alright.., bye.. Ivy."
