I know this chapter starts pretty abruptly, give it a chance, and read the bio before starting. on to the chapter!

*Emily's POV*

My phone begins to blare 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction. You have to be kidding me. It's 7:00 AM and it's time to start Sophomore year. I grab my phone and see that I already got a text from Shawn.
"GOOD MORNING MUFFIN!!! Time to kick high schools ass! I'll be by at 7:50 to pick you up!"

"Mendes shut up and let me sleep."

"No ma'am get ready!! Do you really want to look like trash on the first day?"

I decided to leave him on read, but I got out of bed. I went into my bathroom that was connected to my room. I washed my face, put in contacts, and plugged in my flat iron.

My mom walked into my room with a cup of coffee. "Good morning sweetie," she said as she handed me the coffee. Oooh Cinnamon creamer, my favorite. "Do you need a ride to school?"

"Thanks momma, and no Shawn got his licence last week so he's picking me up."

"That's right!! Karen was telling me about that! Can you get a ride home?? I have to work late tonight."

It's just my mom and I. My dad died when I was 7. Him and my mom worked for a huge cooperation here in Pickering. One week when he was in the USA on business he got in a bad car accident with three other people. They all passed. It's been weird not having a dad around and we were really close. But Manny, Shawn's dad has always been there for me. My mom said she would never re-marry because her motto is "If you think you need another, you were never truly in love." She loved my dad to pieces.

Shawn and I's families have been close forever. My mom, Karen, and Manny all went to high school together. They split for a little bit because of college and everything. Karen and Manny moved into a house in our neighborhood before kindergarten. And that's when I met Shawn. Our families have been reunited and all best friends since. Shawn has literally been there since the beginning.

Through kindergarten, he was my only friend. The girls didn't like me because I hung with Shawn which meant I got cooties. Then in first grade, when I got the call that my dad had died and my mom was picking me up, Shawn was the only person I wanted. Of course everyone else felt bad but I cried while Shawn hugged me. Yes, in first grade all the teachers thought we were in love. Then throughout elementary figuring out life without my father, then starting middle school. Middle school was kind of weird at first because we really started to discover ourselves. We did choir and theatre together and we met some new friends. Nash, Cameron, Matthew, Hayes, Jack G, Jack J, Mahogany, and Aaron. I didn't have a lot of girl- friends but I was okay with it. With guys there's less drama anyway. Middle school was also weird because we hit puberty. I got boobs and a butt, plus I... um... have a monthly visitor now. Shawn got really tall and his voice started changing. It was really fun to laugh at him when his voice cracked, with all the boys actually! We didn't know what to do with ourselves. Our parents thought we were going to have some cheesy relationship because we shared our first kiss over spin the bottle at an 8th grade party. It was nice, I'm not going to lie, but I never told him and our friendship moved on. Last year when we started high school, everything was pretty much the same. We've always been smooth sailing until Shawn tried to go out with this girl, Carly. She was pretty popular and she stood him up for their first date. Now I hate that bitch.
