I was scared.
I was scared of what they would think of me. What would they think of my new look? Would they think I was an attention whore?
I immediately regretted my outfit. Did the skirt get shorter? I floundered with my skirt as fear came over me.
Daniel noticed my fumbling. Basically reading my mind, he coached me through it,"Look, I know you're nervous, I am too, but you can't let it take over. So you're going to walk in there and show everybody the new you, okay?" He nodded at me for reassurance.
"Okay," he walked up to the front door, confidence radiating off of him as I followed behind.
As we walked in, I immediately felt claustrophobic. How could the school hold so many students? We strutted down the hall passing by some people who were staring down at me, judging me. I didn't like it at all.
Daniel and I finally got to the office and waited in line for our schedules.
"I hope we get some classes together. It'll feel weird not to," Daniel whispered. It was quiet in the office, so I guessed he didn't want to break it.
"Yeah, me too," I wispered back. In junior year, Daniel and I had all the same classes except one, which was homeroom. I guess I got used to his company in school that I felt anxious when I didn't.
I was interrupted by my thoughts when a group of boys came in. They made a huge show of it, kicking the door open and laughing and screaming at the top of their lungs. Not to mention the amount of shoving and punching one another.
The last one to enter was definitely the cutest, Jack Williams. He was the guy no one wanted to mess with, and all the girls, even me, had crushed on him atleast once in these four years of high school.
He scanned the room, and when his eyes landed on me, he confidently strided over to where Daniel and I were standing, with our schedules in hand.
"Hey cutie, I haven't seen you in school before, are you new?" He asked me and I just stood there, staring like an idiot.
Did I look that different? Nobody recognizes me.
"Well whenever you decide to talk, I'll be there," he responded with an amused smirk. Daniel rolled his eyes, he was obviously annoyed. On the other hand, I was ecstatic as we walked out the door into the hallway.
"What was that all about?" Daniel asked with annoyance. He took my schedule out of my hand and scanned it, checking our classes.
I sighed dreamily, "I honestly have no idea, but I'm not complaining," He didn't respond.
Finally, after a few moments, he said, "We have math second period, free fourth period, and history fifth period,"
I groaned. I wished we had more classes together. He handed me my schedule back, "I should get going, I do not want to be late on the first day of school."
"Okay, see you during lunch?"
"Yup," I replied.
I walked down the hall to my homeroom and when I entered, everyone's eyes were on me. I felt really uncomfortable and I wanted to yell at everyone to mind their own business but decided I wouldn't because I didn't want to put on a mean girl vibe. I slowly walked over to an empty seat in the front of the class.
Being in the front helped me see and focus better. The tardy bell rang and everyone settled down into their seats, waiting for the teacher to arrive.
After a few moments, the door swung open and everyone looked up expecting to see the teacher, but it wasn't.
It was Jack Williams and his group.
