A not so sweet sixteen

Happy birthday! (well,not as happy as I supposed it to be but this will do)

Beep,beep,beep.....

I woke up to my alarm beeping as if there was no tomorrow. All I wanted to do was to grab the stupid thing and fling it at the nearest wall. But life can't always be as you want it to be so I did the next best thing......I slammed the off button to express my disappointment to my alarm and got of the bed in one (not so swift) movement and almost fell off.

Awesome what a great way to start your day. Oh wait......what date is it today? Oh my god.....I practically flew to the calendar hanging behind my door, banging it shut in the process. It was finally 11 July. My birthday. Yes! I can finally call myself an adult. For those of you who haven't guessed it yet, yes, I have finally turned 16! Just as I was about to burst into a happy realisation dance the door flew open right smack in my face, smashing my nose (cue me groaning)  and reviling my mother.

"what the....oh oops! sorry sweetie, I didn't see you there"

" yeah mom good morning."(note the sarcasm, unlike my very cherry mother)

"oh good morning to you too honey. Come on down I am making pancakes for breakfast!"

"Yup in a sec."

I called out heading towards the bathroom to examine my nose. Aww man, as if the day hadn't already started bad, now I looked like Rudolph (cue in the song to make it look more realistic) well, I thought, I hope nothing more goes bad today ( but apparently someone up there really hates me, because anything that happened after this was(in my opinion) consider bad)

I went down to get my breakfast. My mom was humming to herself as she flipped the pancakes on the plates. I waited for her to wish me but when she didn't I said "So, as you clearly don't remember, it is my birthday today." I was expecting a 'sorry' and a 'happy birthday' but instead I got a

"WHAT! How old have you become?!".

"Umm, 16. What's the matter mom?".

"Oh, n-nothing, I just didn't realise how old you've become!"

"Oh, umm, yeah"

"Just wait here ok I have a gift for you"

Well this was definitely not what I had expected. It was even more wierd because she didn't even remember my birthday yet she still has a gift. And I had never seen her so startled at something. Could this day get any wierder? No don't answer that.

Mom came back carrying a black satin covered jewellery box. Well that just answered the previous question.

"Hey, sweetie this is from me." She said handing me the box.

"Oh, thanks mom!" I said taking it. It opened to reveal a beautifully incarnated necklace. "Wow!" Was all I could say as I brushed it with my finger tips. I pulled back my hand with a jerk, I just felt a kind of tingling sensation run through out my body the moment my fingers came in contact with it.

My mom was watching me with a horrified expression. I looked at her and asked "mom is everything ok?"

"Yeah just get to school and we will meet tonight. I need to talk to you about something. Oh, and be sure to bring Cat (my best friend) along."

"Ok, thanks for the gift" I said heading towards the door.

Well this was turning out to be the most wierdest day.

(Little did I know that it would get wierder still)
