Hi,

This is another song fic, more like a randomly written one. It's dedicated to Neha (A-Musing-me) cause I love her comments and she loves the line Get Lost. The other day we were talking about how Gauri should say the same to Omkara once in a while. This is something like that - although I warn you it's not light hearted.

Enjoy!

Yeh din barson ke baad aaya

Kuch tumhe, kuch humein yaad aaya

When the door opened she still had her hand raised to knock.

"Hi, I'm your next door neighbor...I thought you'd like to -" she froze mid sentence her honey brown eyes going wider. She had thought to share some breakfast with the new neighbor who moved in just the other day. But she was not prepared for the man who stood before her, behind the half opened door. How many times had those eyes haunted her dreams, baring her soul, with the depth of their dark gaze. How many times had she wondered if they still had that unexpressed pain in their depths, that broken yet utterly beautiful look, which lured her too far in uncharted waters called love. His hair was shorter now, it drew more attention to his face; those elegant features that still made her gulp.

It took her a moment to realize her hands were shaking, another moment to realize he had stretched out an arm to touch her. His eyes seemed to drink her in with an unquenchable thirst.

Kasak phir yeh dil mein uthi hai

Hoton pe baath aake ruki hai

Kabhi itne majboor toh hum nahi the...

"Gauri..." was all he had to say, to bring her back to the reality. I hate you! Main tumhara chehera bhi nahi dekhna chahata! Isn't that what he had said, before pushing her down. She stepped back, gasping for air. Why was he here? Why was he making it so hard for her to breathe, to live? She turned around and ran away, back to her own apartment, very conscious of the footsteps behind her and closing her door, before she changed her mind. She leaned against her door and breathed, tears pouring down her face uninterrupted. Gauri slid down to the floor, gathering her knees closer to her body and curling into a ball, suppressed sobs wracking her frame. Why? Why did he have to come?

Agar tum yeh dil maang lethe,

Jaan - e - maan hum tumhe jaan dethe

He was knocking the door now, repeatedly and insistently. She rested her head against the cold wood and closed her eyes, letting the vibrations ran down her spine, letting his voice echo in her blank mind. She had no more strength left to battle his stormy emotions, look into his eyes and bear the hatred in them - true, she could not stop herself from loving him - but her love itself had defeated her, broken her beyond repair. There was nothing more to give, or take. It was all over.

"Gauri! Please, listen to me once," that voice called for more tears. They blurred her vision, chocked her breath. She wished for nothing more than to open the barrier that kept her from him and flung herself into his embrace. But no, she stood up on shaking feet and placed a palm on the closed  door.

"Humein aap se baath nahi karni, chale jaaiye yahan se," when she spoke her voice sounded stronger than she felt. There was no trace of her pain, only bitterness, that poured out. He should know she was also a human, there was a limit of pressure she could take. He should know some of his words had cut deep into her heart that the scars he left behind, still bled sometimes. She wasn't ready for more wounds, more fights. She was so tired.

"Gauri, I know everything," His voice whispered.

"Do you?" leaning her cheek against the door, she said slowly. "Do you know how I still lay awake at night, thinking of those tiny moments when you smiled at me? Do you know how everything I look at somehow brings back a thought related to you? Do you know how much it hurts? No, right? No, Omkara you know nothing! You think you do, but you know nothing of how much it hurts that I can't forget you! Aap ko toh humari ek jooth yaad hai aur kuch nahi. Humein wo har baath yaad hai, jo aap ke subaan se nikale."

Tumhe kaise hum bhool jaathe

Mar ke bhi tum humein yaad aate

Tumhe hai patha bewafa hum nahi the...

He left after a while, leaving a bitter silence behind. She opened the door to the falling dusk and found a paper pushed  inside from the gap between the door and the floor. She bent down and fished it, her curious eyes taking in his elegant script. She knew those lines, and they brought back a fond memory. She had told him once that it was her favorite song, still under her disguise of Chulbul, he hadn't caught on to the real meaning of her words.

Pyaar ke liye chaar pal kum nahi the

Pyaar ke haseen kab yeh mausam nahi the

Kabhi tum nahi the - Kabhi hum nahi the
