Salty tears falling
onto her cold skin.
distant voices shouting
drunken from the gin.
a scream, a cry
a shout of rage.
she hides under her duvet
wonders why they're engaged.
lonely, terrified, and alone
she hugs her pillow tighter.
she just wants to go home
make everything all better.
He entered, a sneer etched on his face
his glare burning straight through her soul.
the pain on her face, invisible to trace
her heart, now a big gaping hole.
he pulled off her duvet and spat in her face
she winced at his touch, a tear escaped.
he shouted repeatedly, "you're a fucking disgrace!"
her mother's screams were silent
she couldn't look at her face.
So pushing her father away, she got up bravely
apologised to her mother, and ran to the balcony.
closing her eyes, she began to relax.
raindrops falling soothingly on her back.
the time was wrong, yet she had to try
to leave the world in which she'd been dumped.
smiling, she whispered,
"angels can fly"and all her sadness left her as she made her final choice,
and jumped.
