Jungkook's pov

She's back. She hadn't been in here for a couple of days, and I was starting to think that she had forgotten about me. My stomach growls hungrily, my head hanging low from my seat on the chair. I haven't eaten or drunk anything since I have been here, my body suffering immensely. I feel weak and tired all of the time, my throat aching with every ragged breath I take.

"I almost forgot that humans need food to survive" she says tauntingly. I can practically hear the smirk in her voice as she walks closer to me, my eyebrows creasing in displeasure. She knows fully well that I was starving.

The sound of a chair being dragged over to me fills me ears, the noise grating and disturbing. I watch from my position as her legs come into view as she sits down in front of me, her feet bare and tapping the ground.

"Come on handsome, look at me."

I slowly force my head to lift, my neck straining from the effort. I finally look up and into her eyes, glaring at the woman in front of me defiantly. She smiles as soon as she sees me looking, her eyes crinkling slightly in the corners. For a second, she looks just like any other young adult. Her eyes draw me in as she props one of her elbows on her knee and places her chin in the palm of her hand.

"That's better" she says softly, picking up the tray that she had placed beside her on the ground. My mouth waters at the scent coming from it, my eyes following every movement she makes. She holds the spoon up to my mouth and I immediately let her feed me, not even my pride stopping me from accepting the soup. It is creamy and light, and I can tell that it is making me stronger from eating after so long.

I don't look up until the bowl is almost empty, catching her staring at me. She looks almost sad as she watches my lips wrap around the spoon as I allow the liquid to pour down my throat.

"It must be nice."

I stare at her as she continues to look into the bowl, a far-off look in her eyes.

"What's nice?" I ask softly. I'm not sure why I'm asking her about what she is thinking, but I can't help but want to find out. Something is different than before, and it intrigues me.

"Eating" she replies, placing the now-empty bowl down on the floor as she picks up a glass of water. "I haven't eaten real food in over a year."

My eyes are wide as she tips the glass towards my mouth, the cold water soothing my aching throat. I continue to stare at her even after the glass is empty, thinking through everything that she has said. What does she mean? Is she remembering a time when she used to eat like us too? How is she still alive if she hasn't eaten any human food? If all she eats is human flesh, how does she get the nutrients she needs to stay alive? Why is she telling me all of this?

"Are you cold?" I ask, taking in her new outfit. She isn't wearing any shoes, her feet and legs totally bare except for the pair of cotton shorts she has on. She is also wearing a tank top, nothing there to cover her shoulders. I am absolutely freezing in this room, and I had been wondering how she had seemed like she wasn't cold at all. Now that I am looking closer, I can see the slight shaking in her arms and legs as she sits here, goosebumps covering her skin.

"Actually, I am...." she stops before looking up at me, her eyes wide. She looks as though she can't believe what is happening, her motions choppy as she stands up from her seat. She hurriedly gathers her stuff before leaving me without a word, the lock turning in the door after she closes it.

Why did she leave so suddenly? And why do I care?
