I lay on my bed. I glanced out my window at the soldiers training and smirked. At least i didn't have to train. I was secretly a soldier as well. One of the bravest. Cosmia. But of course. No one could know. After all. Girls weren't allowed to fight. I chuckled at this. I know I'll be the difference. I rolled off my bed and made my way downstairs.
"Callistia, I've been calling for an hour... are you alright?" Mum asked. I nodded. She turned to a pile of papers on the desk. "Are you sure you don't want any of them."
"I am NOT going to marry someone just because they have money. They're all the same, play boys that are going to treat me like i'm a Slave or toy at their disposal." Mum sighed.
"Your almost 18. You have to start doing something. You cant work, so you have to find someone. Most people won't marry after 20." I rolled my eyes. Honestly i didn't care one bit. Most people call me stubborn. I say i just know what i deserve in life."Then I'll die alone. See if i care." I grabbed the pile and threw them in the fire. I watched as the pictures disintegrated
"WHAT IF THERE WAS SOMEONE IN THERE!!!" Mum yelled. Running toward it. For a split second i thought she was going to try and reach for one. She stopped mid gesture and sighed.
"Mum..." I put my hand on her shoulder. "I'm not some gooey eyed Bitch that'll take any fuckboy that looks nice. Besides, I've looked through them all. Too many times i can count." I said turned away and grabbed my coat. "The world's not going to change if we continue like this."
"Change! This is the way of life. Calli the world doesn't work as well as you hope. Outside these walls, it's a wasteland." Mum looked around. "If your caught, they'll throw you out!""I'll take my Chances." She still looked uneasy. I smiled at her. "I won't be caught. Trust me" With that I left the house and began to stroll through the streets. I looked around, i watched as sky changed. The hologram was just reset. I don't know why they wont show us the world outside the city. I glanced around again. I have no idea what i'm looking for. I spied a few girls stalking soldiers. I could vomit. They dont have any common sense do they. Why? This world is so simple. I glanced around the sparkling clean city, i was craving adventure, i mean, thats why i became a solider. But I've only actually fought a few times. I wanted to fight! I wanted something to do, but of course. Adventure doesn't exist any-
CRASH
I spoke too soon. A body came flying through the walls. I ran over to it. I put my hand to their neck. No pulse. Something crashed through the buildings. It was massive, and it looked like dust. If dust was solid. I came to the conclusion it probably came from the wasteland. People were screaming. I ran into an alleyway and clicked my wrist band. My armour appeared in a hologram and i stepped through. Apparently adventure found me
~~~
My head pounded. I opened my eyes. I wasn't in the city anymore. The last thing i remember was attacking the creature... then black. I stood up. A sandstorm was brewing. I glanced around. No sign of lights from the city. Just sand for miles. I took off my armour. I was overheating in it anyway. I saw something approaching in the distance. It looked like an old ryder. Someone had stolen them from the city. I began to casually walk the other way when it stopped in front of me.
"Whatcha doin out here?" This man, didn't have the posh voice i was used to hearing.
"Lost." I mumbled.
"Too bad. Where ya from." I shrugged. "No memory?""No. Just don't want to tell you" Another ryder came from the distance.
"Feisty."
"Oi, that's where you are!" I turned to face the newcomer.
"Found a pretty."
"OI! Don't try me."
"Oh come on lady. Its obvi your from a Utopia. Aren't ya?"
"Doesn't mean i'm weak!" I went to walk off.
"Your not going to find anything out there." The other boy said. "I suggest you come back with us. That way you have a chance of survival." I turned to face him. I now noticed he was around my age. I don't know why. But i agreed."Wanna ride with me pretty?"
"No." I said simply walking toward the younger one.
"Take these." He said. Handing me a set of goggles. I gladly took them. I watched as the riders took off. The trail of dust they left behind didn't bother me. It hit everywhere. But it felt like a home I had forgotten. We arrived at a lane of dirty tents.
"There you boys are. Done yet? I want to leave already." A girl huffed from behind the counter. She then glanced at the older of the two brothers. "Who's This?
"Im Callistia." I said jumping off the ryder.
"Utopian?" She questioned. I nodded. "Interestin', i'm Lili. Now are ya guys gonna take the shop. Or imma just gonna rot back 'ere?" I walked around their 'Shop' it just had posters and worn out weapons around it.
"If you want these sold, you might need to clean them a bit." I muttered, but the older of the bothers heard me."How abou' you do it then... after al' your a utopian gi-" I pushed him down on the table one hand holding his head, the other pining one of his Hands behind his back. "What the hell! What was dat for?"
"I told you not to try me." He glanced up at me.
"For a utopian, your pretty tough. Who exactly are you."
"My name is Callistia." I smiled, "I'm more commonly known as..." I Lifted his chin slightly, "Cosmia."
